I love Mya! But I have to agree she needs really good material because that girl got talent. She really needs to evolve with her music because that's how most of the top artist survive.

Look at Rihanna, she would've plummeted to the abyss if she continued with her girl next door (the one where she looks like a beyonce copy)/carribean dance music, which was expected of her.

Mya needs to do something unexpected and back it up with her talent.

I used to lik her... and still

but this record is full of bullcrap...

Girl can Vogue as well and no not the old school Vogue, the New Age Underground one.

Check around 2:43, she'll show you how it's done.

honestly as a dancer Ciara is whole lot beter i think...

but its just my opinion

Ciara knows how to shake her ass really fast, other than that she's nothing special. Mya is trained in tap and jazz dance, she worked with Savion Glover who is a tap LEGEND. Enjoying her music more doesn't mean she's a whole lot better. She's never done anything spectacular.

Actually, Ciara's had training as well. As a matter of fact, she's had training from the very start of her career.

Mya sold herself short when she focused on sex over substance. She's a VERY talented dancer. Not dancer like Britney/Rihanna/Beyonce simple routines dancer, Mya is a TRAINED dancer. She's a badass tapdancer.

She should be commended for the work she does with youth.

That's true Marley! She should have focused on her voice and dancing, her best assets!

Now it sucks that her last album wasn't released in the US (they put all the effort into videos, but no push at radio or promotion) and I like her new song "Paradise", so I'm wishing her the best.

I miss her "It's All About Me" days!

I love Mya, but I'm not feeling her new album--or, at least the little that I've heard of it so far. In any case, I thought I'd give us all a little taste of Mya from the good ol' days.

My fave Mya song--Best of Me (I can't post the vid, but here's the link):

Another vid I can't post, but I love it--Movin' On:

Define "training." Mya's training came a la Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, and other names that are respected in the industry. At best, Ciara does the same kinda routines our dance club was doing back in high-school. Flash over substance and technique.

I have to find out the extent of her training, as I do not know her background; I just know a girl who's worked with her. I'll get back to you on that Marley.

I think she has been underrated her entire career just because her vocals arent great. Although I agree, I think she has a voice that is more unique than many other female pop/r&b artists out there right now. Personally, my favorite song of hers has to be Fallen. I think around the time of My Love is Like Wo... people started to think of her as another talentless ho because of her new sexed up image (even though she has always been pretty sexy, just not over the top). yeah she does look pretty young still, but you can start to see it in her face and she has also gained a noticeable amount of weight (not that i care, but her industry does) so her time might be up soon. I like how shes not the type to whore herself out with 12 singles a year, but i think that because she isnt that type (or maybe it is the labels fault for lack of promotion for all i know) she is overshadowed by all the attention whore rihannas.

As for Sugar & Spice, I havent listened to it yet, but I cant wait to. I thought that Liberation was a Japan only release as is Sugar & Spice. Actually, I thought that she is releasing it under a Japanese record label. By watching the Paradise video, you can even tell how much it is marketed toward that audience--with the plain background and her great big smile during 99% of the vid, just like a commercial. I dont know how well the album would do in the states if Paradise is representative of the rest of the album, but I think she is making a smart move if she thinks she can make it big in japan.

Okay Marley, so I found out. Ciara actually has not had training in any particular style; she only had her technique refined. They only focused on her execution, in other words. So, I hope that answers your question, even though it's been about a week.

I was really impressed with Mya when i first saw her in Lady Marmalade her vocals harmonized PERFECTLY with Pinks and Christina's! and to Braveboi82 Mya could dance circles around britney, who now a days seems to stand there flailing and lip synching, Mya may not have the best voice but she still has better range than brit.

Yeah, she has good choreographers that give her kickass routines, but left to her own devices she's just good at shaking her ass really fast.

Well, that does not take away from the fact that she can execute the choreography. I understand what you're saying; in a freestyle battle, Mya would destroy Ciara. However, that does not take away from the fact that Ciara can still dance and she is a dancer.

Meh, her routines are hot to def, but they remind me of the routines we did in my high-school dance club, nothing special. I will give her that she's very athletic and can bend in all sorts of directions.

I understand what you're saying. Ciara's good enough to where her shows can rely on just her dancing, but she's not an impressive dancer in any aspect. I agree.

Only time I've been impressed with Ciara as a dancer was at the BET Awards with Chris Brown. I dunno, I just don't like the way she moves in general. I like her though and think she is beautiful, just a sucky dancer IMO.
Mya is definitely an excellent dancer though. At one point, I considered her the best in the industry. I don't know what I think now. Actually I don't really believe in *best* anymore.

Wow! You were impressed by the small piece of choreography? The sad part about it is you were probably impressed by the trick as opposed to the actual dancing, because there really was not much dancing between the two.

Anyway, I cannot speak for MIL, but there is certain objective criteria by which to judge dancers. So, when I speak of who's better or who may be best, that's how I am observing these people. I'm not simply just basing it on what I prefer.

For some reason I'm never impressed with dancing. These days EVERYBODY and their mama is some kind of dancer so nobody really stands out at all.

Understandable. It seems that record companies are looking for triple threats now-a-days, which is why seeing a double threat is not as impressive anymore.

^I cant even remember what ciara did in that performance to tell you the truth, so I dont know what you mean when you say "the trick". What trick?
Maybe I was impressed cuz she danced so little, as you say.

Towards the very end, she did a back bend where she rested her neck on Chris Brown's foot and he lifted her with his foot.

I do give her points for how agile she is, she's definitely in great shape.

Yeah, that's what I was told. She just mainly works out now.

I guess thats the video ur talking about..
ciaras really agile... and the last 20 seconds are reaaly good

Anyway back to the topic...

I was listening to case of the ex... that's a good song even though I wish she had better materials...
