Just came back from Casino Royale. Craig is Bored not Bond. :help: It ended with a "to be continued" option...hey mr producer please move on and dont give us sequels...[-X

I'm not a Bond fan, and haven't even seen one of his movies all the way through, but this Bond looks more like he would fit right in with the cast of The Sopranos. Where is the suave, mystical Bond? Unless they've changed Bond's entire persona, I can't see this guy lasting any longer than George Lazenby.

What they've done is gone back to basics.

This is the ruthless, cold-blooded Bond of Ian Fleming's books, who has never been seen on celluloid before. (Dr No came closest, but still fell wide of the mark). It's Bond while he was still a run-of-the-mill MI6 operative, before he got his 00 number and his License to Kill.

Barbara Broccoli has gone on record as saying "This isn't the 21st Bond film. It's the first one".

Man, I got to see the premier, and I thought it was the best Bond moive in about 25 years.

I know i'm rather shallow when it comes to, oh I don't know life in general but I'm going to see the movie for the sole reason that I fancy the pants off Daniel Craig. Couldn't give a pile of shit if he happens to be a crap actor or whether or not he's done "bond" any justice. He is fine. Plus the fact that he was born not too far from where I was born makes my mind up just a tad too. ..|

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing it. The only two reviews I've read praised the new, "darker" Bond.

I saw it this afternoon. Loved it. It's Bond just as I remember reading him from the Fleming novels. He is cold, ruthless and violent. The film itself was well crafted and a lot more interesting in comparison to the previous films. It had the sparse action feel of Dr. No or From Russia With Love only a bit more sinister. Craig himself did a damn fine job in the role and I was surprised at how banged up, bruised and bloodied he got in this filme. I'm glad he's signed on for a couple of more sequals. Oh, and Craig is the first Bond I've ever wished would bugger me till tomorrow morning! ;) All in all I would give it 3 1/2 stars.

007 Box Office Coup (UK)

Casino Royale has smashed a Bond box office record, taking more in its first day of release than any previous 007 film, says Columbia Pictures.
The film, which features Daniel Craig's first outing as the super-spy, sold £1.7m of tickets in the UK on Thursday.

The figure is more than twice as much as the previous record-holder, 2002's Die Another Day, took in its first day.

I saw it at the midnight showing and it was awesome. Everyone in the theater was floored and I thought Craig was perfect. However, its a much different bond and is much closer to Dillon's Jason Bourne than say the typical James Bond portrayals. Its dirty, hes utterly ruthless, and I think he is easily the best looking Bond as well.

The movie was a little long, and there were a few too many villains, but otherwise it was fantastic.

I agree with you. It's just a James Bond caper and it's about half an hour too long, but the theater response was very positive.

The action sequences are fun without being complete nonsense (no invisible car) and Daniel Craig, whatever you think of him, is a very good actor so the audience got carried along with him. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would as I suspect most people will.

Here's a good Daniel Craig link from the Towleroad site:

Oh you cheeky bugger you're bumping old threads and making me think people aren't aware of what's going on!

And I totally fell for it!

Love bond though

Yeah Goldeneye was the best one.O:)

Love James Bond movies, just wish they'd go back to making great memorable title tracks.

I am a Bond fan and I agree. The current bond is more of an action hero. I too miss the suave, maddening and cold Bond.
