Nelly Furtado is back!!
Big Hoops (Bigger the Better) is the first single of Nelly Furtado's new album "The Spirit Indestructible" and is produced by Darkchild.
The song is available on iTunes from TOMORROW 4/17 !
About 5 years ago she was the hottest female, hopefully she can make a great comeback!!!

What do you think of it? Rate and leave a comment!

Very strong beat and very urban, love this! I hope it smashes, we'll see tho. ;)

I love Nelly and when I first heard this the other week I was thrilled with it and I am still yet to be, but I am sure there will be other songs that are great on the new album.

She sounds... so different. I can't place it, but I almost didn't recognize it to be her.

Though it sounds better than Syphilis Girl... I don't know how much I actually like her in the song so far. Maybe it's a grower.

such a looong absence.

i actually prefer her during her second CD phase. more authentic. than her timbaland manufactured self in loose though it was a commercial success

Here's the song in better quality:

It's okay, prefer her when she's just singing though, very much like Rihanna which i'm fed up with.

Her voice sounds just like it did in the Whoa Nelly era and she's been doing the accent thing long before Rihanna's debut. Remember her remix of Missy Elliott's Get Ur Freak On?

Not to mention in Loose too.

No, it doesn't.

Single's been out for 2days now and here's its position on US iTunes atm:

Yeah, that comeback ain't coming. :##:

Nelly has always had a weird style but that's what made her fun to listen to. I don't know if this will be a big hit though. It's hard to tell.

I liked her songs produced by Timbaland and maybe from her first album. This one just seems like it would flop or be lukewarm.

Relax. Nobody even knows the song exists. It needs radio airplay and a music video.

Of course people like songs from Loose and Whoa Nelly. No one's actually heard anything from Folklore or Mi Plan.

(Released a few months ago) No one knew Ke$ha's new remix was coming out and it went straight into the top 10 on iTunes within hours, and it had zero airplay and video.

On the bright side, I've been hearing this song on the radio a few times...

It's better than her new song, imo.

And wow, it always amazes me how stunning she is.

^ That song is a few months old. It took a while to become popular.

And Kesha has been recently active while Nelly hasn't been on Top 40 radio in 5+ years.

Well she's performing it on the Billboard Music Awards a month from now, so it should soar up the charts then. =)

Or not. I don't think many people care about Nelly anymore.
Well, that's what I was implying in my first post you quoted though. The one where you told me to "Relax. Nobody even knows the song exists. It needs radio airplay and a music video." :-)

I don't think it's that people don't care about her anymore, I think people just forgot about her. 5 years is like 20 in the music world. Honestly, I've been wondering about Nelly for a few months now after I one day re-discovered her music. I wasn't even aware she had a new single out, so I'm sure a lot of other people who miss her aren't either.

She just needs better promotion and something to put her back on the map.

^ Agreed.

I know, but the point is valid. The Loose era was the same for Nelly. The previous album, Folkore, was a commercial flop and no one remembered her when Promiscuous came out. It took months for the song to chart high (released in April, finally charted in late May and then finally went to #1 in July). Unless she kept releasing music continously after hitting it big in 2006-07 the way Rihanna does now or a large dedicated fanbase like Britney Spears, we can't expect her to sell well immediately (assuming it even does). Radio support is going to make or break this song.
