Anywho....

Howdy!

I do agree that in SOME instances it has gone too far, but some people claim to be tired of "PC" as an excuse to be assholes.

I think PC is bad because people should be able to look at words as just being words and if they can't do that then they shouldn't be using words

You can be an asshole without breaking the Politically Correct Code.

Yeah cause I'm so well known on here for pandering to fragile sensibilities anyway. I'm sure we can work out a deal to keep our JUB accounts. I guess we just won't be able to show video's of spanish midget wrestling here.

 Or call people "crackers." I can toss around "nigga" and "fag" abundantly but "cracker" must be one of those 7 words. That's what I should've done with this thread, the JUB's list of 7 forbidden words. That woulda been fun.

Of course "PC," as it has come to be known in popular culture, has it's ridiculous and neurotic extremes, but there are bodies of academic work that is better, clearer, and more concise today due to the removal of biased and ambiguous language that was factually incorrect as well as socially insensitive. So the quiet work continues...

Being "PC" can be appropriate in very many situations. There are extremities however, but that's with everything.

I don't like being PC but I hate how some people abuse their "anti-PC" stance.

"I'm not racist/homophobic, I'm just not politically correct -- and that's makes me cool."

There's a big difference in being politically "incorrect" and being a ignoramus butthead.

On this we agree.

"PC" = "political cleansing" :eek:

Political correctness sucks big time! Why are we using Human instead of Man, and Men. There is a right way to use the word human in the correct usage, such as, 'it's only human' or 'we are human beings' or 'we are humans from Earth'.

Why would we use "man" or "men" rather than "human"? For instance, "all mankind," rather than "all humanity"?

I'm actually with BabyGayPimp on this one.

...let's put it this way: all you folks who are talking about "politially correct," I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Can you explain it to me?

I say whatever feels right and if somebody has a problem with that they can come and give me a reason and I might stop using the term.

If you are black, you are black. Deal with it. The term 'African-American' makes no sense at all.

Maybe because women don't like being referred to as Men or Mankind? Human or Humanity is genderless.

Amen!

Amen again!

It's being sensitive to others, particularly those (such as blacks/African-Americans, women, homosexuals) who have had such prejudice thrown against them historically. PC has gone overboard, but it has its roots in a good place: not offending others.
