That's remarkable, how everyone else from that era has gone, but virtually the only two still alive and with us today, turn out to be sisters. I never actually knew they were sisters.

Olivia is 97, and Joan will be 96 later this year. Wow.

I was browsing around online some of the Oscar-winning actors and actresses of the classic era.

I mean talk about longevity they were both being nominated in turn for Academy Awards in 1939 and 1940 like over 70 years ago!

Joan won for Suspicion (1941) and Olivia won for To Each His Own (1946) and The Heiress (1949) but their earlier nominations were for consecutive Best Picture winners Gone With the Wind (1939) and Rebecca (1940) respectively.

Oh, and as a kind of addendum....

Olivia has aged into a sort of classy grandmother type....

....while Joan may have become a bit loopy.

P.S....

I was just musing about the funny difference between me and Telstra.

He makes threads seeking factual information from JUBbers.

This lifelong autograph collector keeps coming into my shop trying to sell me a rather extensive collection of Olivia and Joan's autographs/letters/ect. They have roots in Silicon Valley and he has gotten most of the stuff from them in person as they have also been involved in the arts here. I (think) he said they went to Los Gatos High School. I too remarked at their age and their genes just a few weeks ago.

The last time he was here (a couple weeks ago) I bought a partial collection of his Butterfly McQueen autographed stuff...he corresponded with her regularly so he had lots of letters and photos and checks, ect. I wanted it because I started reading about her and she wads in an organization that sought "Freedom From Religion"...I immediately liked her.

Is Mickey Rooney fixing to get married any time soon? While we're at it spare a thought for poor old serial bride and Madoff victim Zsa Zsa Gabor, 96.

"The Heiress" is one of my most favourite films. Olivia was spectacular.

Luise Rainer was such an interesting case in Hollywood. The first person to win back to back acting Oscars, and then practically disappeared from Hollywood forever.

Shirley Temple (85), Lauren Bacall (88), Mickey Rooney (92), Kirk Douglas (96) and Doris Day (89) are all still with us.
