On my way to the hospital

Remember this past Thursday when I went to the bank and to the grocery store? I was quite sore afterwards, but I thought you'd like to know that Thursday night was the last time I used the walker. I've been on the cane only since Friday morning.

Oh, and I've gained back 3 kilos. I was becoming quite concerned when I hit 80 kilos, so I upped my portion sizes a bit. I'm hoping to level out at about 85 - 86 kilos, which was my adult weight until the early 90s.

I took a nasty fall and might have broken my hip.

Just so you know.

I'll update you when I can.

And yet you still managed to log into a forum and post while on your way to the hospital. It's amazing where some people's priorities lie nowadays. Posting on a forum would be the last thing on my mind if I had injured myself enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room, but I guess that's because I'm not an attention seeker.

1. Neil is most certainly not an attention seeker.
2. He posted, whilst waiting for the ambulance
3. I think you might just need a good fuck, you know to get some of that bitterness and jealousy out of your system.

No, you're not, though I'm surprised anyone living under a bridge would post at all.

Totally uncalled for, Sutrastore.

Neil was more than considerate to let us know.
He is here all the time - we are his day to day family.
He likely didn't have to log on to the forum - probably had a tab on his laptop in inactive mode while he went to the store.

I tend to agree with Medic1 - that, or an enema to clean all the shite out of your system.

And just who are you with your 47 posts since Mar 2010?

Certainly not reading the subsequent posts from Neil's friends.

You got me. Well done. And here I was hoping that all my friends here would think I was just warning them that I might be 'disappearing' for a time and not to worry about me, knowing full well that they actually would. You were the only one to see through my ruse.

Indeed. Well done.

(I do hope this has given you the attention you seek.)

One more update and 2 things to mention:

1 - I tied my own shoes for the first time since the surgery today. (I'm not supposed to yet, but I had no choice. I was all alone.)

2 - The X-rays showed the doctor that everything is where it should be, and I should just keep on doing what I've been doing. I don't need to go back to see him again until September, and that will be in his office, not at the hospital even though his office is in a building only a few steps away from the hospital.

I also asked him about the 'swelling' in my hip. I dropped trou and he examined it, telling me that it's not uncommon. It's just the way the muscles have been rearranging themselves after the surgery. "Will it ever go away?" He just shrugged his shoulders.

As long as I know it's nothing to be concerned about.

So. All is well... for the most part.

Neil,
That is good news, indeed.

I looked for you last night, but I'm supposing the brooms were in action on the ice.

^ Indeed they were, and they were in action again tonight (Canada vs USA). Sorry. You lost. Handshakes in 6.

I promise not to tell.

Six months! Sounds like you're doing well. :=D:

He seems to be reassuring, if a little ambiguous.

Good news! Hang in there! ..|

P.S. How are your Christmas cacti doing?

I'm genuinely surprised nobody here has asked the most important question yet:

Bunny ears or loop, swoop and pull?

I'm glad there's nothing to be concerned about. We all appreciate the update.

Good to hear Neil. You'll be skipping rope again in no time.

Now we just gotta organize that dump truck load of ice melt for next winter. ;)

Colour me UNsurprised. It is your sport, after all.

Actually, it's the American skip's sport as well. Allison Pottinger is Canadian, married to an American and living in Minnesota. She curled in Canada until she attended college and gained degrees in the University of Wisconsin.
