Lies. Her dramatic alto is one of a kind. She sings soul music better than half these black female r&b singers. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't paying attention. She's got an arsenal of jazz and gospel-inspired riffs.

well she's local to me....but no she's had quite a few huge songs and is also now acting (starred in RV with Robin Williams, Aquamarine and a Lifetime movie)

Her singles they don't do her any justice. Anyone who doubts her exceptional vocal ability needs to listen to "Breezy" or "Secret Love" or "Yes or No" or her paltalk performances where she sang "On Broadway" doing a scat back-and-forth with her background singer or her mashup of "Too Little Too Late" and Jill Scott's "Long Walk." Nothing short of brilliant.

Allow me to elaborate. The first track is weak; in addition, she seems to be missing that "it" factor that would truly catapult her to the next level as a singer.

well tell me how Jojo is gonna sing her way out of homelessness if the hoe cant make a hit? do labels put out albums without hits? either way Jojo sucks, her music is GARBAGE and she is marketed by Aaliyahs team who really wasnt doing a good job with Aaliyah in the first place, and really shes not even that cute, Karina is better, but again shes a nobody too

Out of homelessness? Doubt it. She's a songwriter and she's terribly smart, she got high marks in school and was contemplating a Study Abroad program, she wants to study Afro-Cuban music in Africa.

And Karina is better? That's hardly worth commenting on but it goes guarantee that you know NOTHING about vocalising. You must be one of those Diva Queens who thinks that you're nothing unless you're at the top of the charts. See Meshell Ndegeocello. And see TLC who dominated the charts but don't have a dime to show for it.

Who are you to tell me i dont know sh*t about vocals and to call me a queen, and these days its about sales and relevancy, like vocally chicks like Tamia and Amel can put these hoes to shame and if we wanna talk about who can ACTUALLY make music its Kelis>Beyonce but like there is no market for them. I feel bad for TLC now that you bring them up, but its another classic case of Style over Substance, they were hot cause they had something nobody had, which is why the group Electrik Red is relevant.

And in this Jojo discussion, I dont care how smart she is, she cant write anything worth hearing, she has that "Disney" type of image and if she wants to WOW anybody she's gotta get a new creative team. Like okay, Jojo can sing, but she is whack, all of the "post-tween" chicks are, they have luke-warm songs and messy runs, like Monica in the 90s.
 
Really enjoyed her last one, hoping the next one is just as good.
 
i'm glad that JoJo's coming out with a new release. I've been waiting for awhile since her last effort which i really enjoyed and still do even now.
