We all know that there is an enormous difference between a Consensual Adult Homosexual Relationship and Pedophilia/Molestation/Child Rape.

The leadership of the Religious Right may even recognise the difference - in private. But don't hold your breath waiting for them to admit it in public.

I certainl can't dispute the influence of the religious right on Americans.
What I find quite alarming is the emergence of so many mega-churches in my part of the USA [midwest.] (I really can't speak about other regions.)
These are congregations with $$$!
They "worship" in buildings that approximate the size of a Wal-Mart (at least), surrounded by parking lots that appear to accommodate 1,000 cars.
Young families constitute the majority of their membership, and they are indoctrinating their kids with an almost virulent bigotry.
They have libraries, nurseries, broadcasting facilities, recording studios, etc. on premises.
These almost exclusively non-denominational groups wield a lot of power because of their size and the aggregate wealth of their members....and they keep growing and growing.
And...they are not preaching acceptance and/or diversity.

Just like in the US, the fundamentalists in Europe receive most of their support from those at the practical bottom of the social pyramid, too. Sadly, most of the working poor, farm hands and other people, who are not faring too well in the world of 2007 are all looking for some raison d'être, for some justification of their societal and human role in their respective societies.

The rationale is crude and simple and as such very appealing to most of the people, who have neither been trained nor conditioned to cope with the highly complex issues of modernity. These people are not stupid. They fully recognize their condition. They know that they have been left far behind. They know that their kids don't have chances to make it. The only hope they have in justifying their existence is that through some sort of a miracle, they became acquainted with 'the superior ideology' which has the power of making all of their backwardness irrelevant and which fully justifies their existence in terms of their societal relevance.

See, I am poor and thus, fully irrelevant. But I know my Bible and the Bible and its very false interprets here teach me to hate fags, so, here you get it. I have my purpose, too. My life has a goal, too. Sad, isn't it? And it even works globally...

Gay or str8, successful males as a group (not as every single individual) tend to partner themselves with often significantly younger partners. In simple terms, Donald Trumps of this world change their wives for a newer model ever so often. The laws of evolution kick in and eventually, the social prestige tends to generate more of the same, which more often than not leads to the increase in power, control and wealth. Trophy Boys are not given that 'trophy' sobriquet for nothing.

Now, if a 50 year old very successful (sugar?) Daddy sports around a hottt 24 college graduate kid for whatever reason; people are free to think whatever they want about it. But no one should ever forget that a 24 year is an adult, too. So, if it works for him, why should it not work for the rest of the onlooking world?
