I met a very interesting guy on Manhunt a month ago, he is 20, very very cute, the one I have been looking for to be my babe. We have exchange lots of emails, phone calls and it seems that we both really have to do with each other.
Now comes the worst part of it all:
He lives in a country city in my state, which is six hours by bus. He says that distance has nothing to do when you really like someone, and we can meet every weekend. But I have some doubts about that.
Now, my question to you is: if it were you, would you try and continue the relationship anyways or just call it off right now?
Thanks for the advice.

I think if you don't try you may regret what you could've potentially had. Six hours on a bus is a long time for you guys to have every week but it could be pretty worth it. Who knows, if you seem to get along really well in emails and phone calls it could be a really meaningful relationship. If you meet him and it turns out you both aren't too into each other, then you can just call it off you know?

I think you have a lot more you could potentially gain here than you'd lose.

Ultimately the decision is yours. But I can speak from experience, since I've done that before, that I won't do it again. Just too hard :(

But again it depends on how much you care for someone and how strong it is. But long distance relationships aren't my thing. When I meet someone I care about, I want them HERE, not hours away.

My take? If you really wanted to be with him, you wouldn't need to ask us what we thought.

I've made a two hour drive relationship work, I live on the coast, and he lives in the middle of the state, and it works very well. You just have to be willing to compromise, and be understanding when things dont work exactly as you had planned. I tried, I took a gamble and it is paying off, if you dont try, you will probably regret what could have been.

I must admit I have my doubts about long distance relationships. Nevertheless there are those who have made it work. I think you should at least meet and get to know one another in real time. If you two hit it off then give it a shot. There is nothing worse in life than regret IMHO. Best of luck!

Boy, 6 hours on a bus sounds like torture to me. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

But who knows, maybe it will work for you.

Meet him half way...three hours for each of you. Maybe there is a cool bed and breakfast that you can stay at to make it romantic. 6 hours on a bus sounds like torture to me, but if you want it...go for it.

I admit that i think long distance relationships tend to be really really problematic. However, having said that i think everything is at least worth taking a shot at it. But have some more realistic goals. don't try and meet every weekend. don't expect to have 2-3 hour conversations every night etc etc. that way when you do get to meet or call those events will mean more to you both (hopfully). ;)

I would, even though I've been in lots of long-distance relationships that have all failed - I wouldn't let that stop me..because I have no idea what I could be missing.

Sure why not. LD's kick ass. You have all the comfort and privacy until you want that person around. Feel free to be who you are and the best thing is, that it's not so far you couldn't meet............ever.

I agree with the meet half way proposition, at least at the beginning, just to see how it works out.

Then if this is really going to work out then it is obvious that someone or both of you have to consider moving.

Relationships require sacrifices, but sacrifices that are made willingly and in order to give pleasure to one's partener.
