Please someone summarize Game of Thrones

I watched it foir one show and then banned it from my TV find it crap! but to each his own!
 
We are in season 5. Total tipoff of chinese ancient history.
 
^ I thought the whole thing was a rip-off. I was told that, if I liked Tolkien, I'd like Game of Thrones. I do, but I didn't.
