It is official

the scientists voted today to remove it from the list

we now officially only have Eight planets in our system.

that is just weird.

Yup, i heard that on the news too Drew. Its like being told that what you got told at school is wrong!

Only 8 Planets. Pluto is a Rock according to Wikipedia, and a Micro-planet according to other sources ive seen.

i will never remember that there are only eight planets

it will not be a fact that will stick to the teflon coating in my brain, lol

Imagine all the textbooks that need to be revised. I see a rise in school costs coming on real soon... ;)

When I was in elementary school, we were taught this phrase to help us remember the names of the planets and their order:

I made up a sentence of my own: Met Veel Appelen Mag Jij Straks Uit Nederland Praten.

Anyone who speaks even a little bit of Dutch knows that one makes absolutely no sense at all*. But it was the best I could do and it worked, for me and for quite a few of my classmates I told this mnemonic.

*This is a translation: with many appples you may talk from Holland later. Yes, it's accurate.

So Everything I learned I did NOT learn in Kindergarden. so much for that set of books!

This just reminds me of the feelings I had when I heard the term "New Math" being taught in schools. So, there was a new way to do math, which meant that I no longer knew how to do math, my bank accounts would not balance, I wouldn't be able to make change, or to count the hotties on the street.

Tell me about it. I can't even count to 21 without taking of my shoes, socks, pants, and underwear.

(Think about it. You'll get it eventually

Ours was:
Man Very Early Made Jars Stand Up Nearly Perpendicluar.
If I worked on it - I'm sure I could come up with my own now - definately ending in Penis. What no more Pluto - OOPS better not use Penis!

Has anyone spoken to Mickey Mouse about this? I should think he would be very disturbed to hear this news about "his pluto."

"When you wish upon a star ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,     "

Do you realize how many cartoons are now going to have to be revised? And the atlases, and the books on astronomy. Who is going to make all those corrections? It will take longer then getting the galleries and blogs back in place on this website?

Wait until Mother Nature Hears about this and the Gods.:grrr: :grrr:

I can already feel the difference here on Earth with the sudden loss of Pluto's gravity!

The skin on my face...is pulling...tighter......arrrrgghhh!!!...and I'm...looking.....Younger!

Hmmn, Not bad! ..|

Thanks Scientists!(!)

Yeh...I think I felt the whole universe slip out of balance when they took Pluto's planetary status away. Can they give it the title of honorary planet instead? (...a few decades and millions of dollars in debates and studies can decide that! ](*,) )

It's absolutely ridiculus to have spent time, energy and money on downgrading Pluto's planetary status and changing our perception of the solar system. I can see not catagorizing any new dwarf planets into being called a planet but to take the title away...silly.
