Prayers For Bobby

The movie was good if a bit lifetime-y.

But holy shit did Bobby's family's reaction to his suicide make me bawl.

I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I've seen the ads, but didn't make a point to see it as I usually don't enjoy made for tv movies. I caught it switching channels. My boyfriend and I watched it and both truly enjoyed it. It's a sad movie and has real life message.

It was definitely a tearjerker. Ryan Kelley really did play a heartbreaking Bobby, and Sigourney Weaver was amazing.

This movie was incredible! I laughed....I definately cried a lot....and it made me re-examin my life and my future. I hope everyone got to see this movie, cause it was definately uplifting and gives you hope for a bright future. I never cried so much in my life...other than when I watched Brokeback Mountain. This easily makes my top 5 list of favorite movies ever!

The part that made me lose it was in the parade. Sigourney looks over at the crowd and sees Bobby. As she gets closer, you realize that it's another kid and not Bobby. She walks right up to him and embraces him (he embraces her too) for a while and holds his face in her hands. She has this incredible look in hr face...I would call it bittersweet. The kid starts crying and applauding as she walks away.

Watch this movie, you won't regret it! ..|

oh gosh, that's the same point where I just lost it too
great great movie

same here .

Beautiful movie, it made me think abt my own life since im in a similar situation with my family

I didn't really find it to be that great. All of the build-up to it caused for a let down, in my opinion. As someone said before, the previews said it all.

It was a truly beautiful movie even though it was incredibly sad. I cried quite a lot.
All of the acting was great--Sigourney Weaver and Ryan Kelly both deserve Emmy nominations. But I was especially impressed with the actor who played Bobby's brother (Austin Nichols)--the scene where he reacted to Bobby's death really made me lose it. I hope many families, especially devoutly religious ones, see this movie. It could help to save some young gay people's lives.

suicide is a cowards option ---- a very selfish act.

there's always another option......if one who commits suicide cannot see it then they are too weak!

this is more "liberal" brainwashing to demonize Christianity.

I'm not Christian, but I'm sick of Leftards demonizing the teachings of Jesus for their political gain of pushing the socialist agenda.

I disagree. For one thing it is a true story. And secondly, I thought the movie showed that there are gay christians, too, even if they have to have their own church (MCC) in order to practice their faith.

I actually have a personal connection to this movie...Bobby's story moved me so much that I actually came out to my Aunt last night, who is the only person I can really trust, and guess what? She came out to me too! She is Gay, which I did not know, and now we are even more connected and closer than ever! In fact...I live way out in the country in Texas..and now I am moving to San Antonio with her and I am excited! I have no gay friends here where I live and now I am going to the gay friendly city of San Antonio, TX! She wants to help me get out of the country and try new things in the city! I am thrilled!!!

Prayers for Bobby is an awesome movie and I will treasure it forever...R.I.P. Bobby.

The inability to accept a child for what they are is a cowards option -- a very selfish act.

I'm in full agreement.

There's always another option, such as acceptance and understanding. If one who doesn't accept their child cannot see it, then they are too weak.

I'm in full agreement.

I'm not religious, but I'm sick of homophobes demonizing gay people for their religious and political gain of pushing the conservative agenda.

BUT, Bobby did NOT need to commit suicide. It WAS HIS CHOICE.
the FINAL ACT to do this was Bobby's decision all his own. This is where your wishful thinking of blaming Christianity/Conservatism is seriously flawed.

See how that works both ways? ;)

it works how YOU want it to work when you TWIST and screw it all around.

the ULTIMATE decision to kill himself was Bobby's all his own. NO ONE ELSE.

So, I'm confused.......is this moving showing that christianity is bad or religion is bad?

WHAT??!!! Are you serious??? How is this "liberal brainwashing"? This kind of thing happens.. THIS WAS A TRUE STORY!!!!! Look at a bible, the teachings are still there. As the gay reverend said in the movie, it is all in how you interpret it.

Explain how this movie was intended to demoralize Christianity?

I won't even comment in your ignorant, disprespectful comment about those who commit suicide. I've never been in that dark of a place, but putting myself in Bobby's shoes, he saw no other options, he felt he had nothing else left in the world.

And....agian...this movie was not something dreamed up by a writer in Hollywood...

IT WAS A TRUE STORY!!!!!!!!!!

You've let your emotions decide what you write.

Calm down and reread my two posts here. Then come back with something that isn't so emotionally angrily driven.

No one blammed Christianity or conservatism. If that is what you got out of it, you completely missed the point of the movie. He killed himself because his mother wouldn't accept him for he was, and he could not reconsile the beliefs he was taught by his family and the church and the feelings he was having

it works how YOU want it to work when you TWIST and screw it all around.

There was no twisting around, he just used your words against you

No.

I apologize. Your other two posts must of showed up while I was writing my post. I may of gotten a bit carried away, but I was appalled at your insensitive comments
