I'm a proud Australian and I have tried to watch this movie on TV. I love some of the characters and costumes and ideas.
But I get so annoyed at the general stupidity half way through that I turn it off. I've tried to watch it about 4 times. That Bill Hunter character is repellant.

I think this movie falls into The Saggy End Syndrome; films which are fabulous in the first half but get bogged down and confused in the second. I include 'Gone with the Wind', 'Great Expectations', 'Psycho'.
