As for the gay over-ornamentation of the palace, excessive ornamentation has been disparaged as gay long before the current little shits started using gay as a deprecatory adjective for anything they see as not heternormatively cool.

In person, palaces and imposing facades have exactly the effect the kings, popes, parliaments, and petty potentates intended, to intimidate. But, in photographs, they are often just comical in their blatant desperation.

Although I do not actually care for or prefer Gaudi's style(s), I appreciate his singular vivsion and determination to realize it.

I reason it as I do most rock music, professional sports, automobile racing, or drag queen acts. None of them appeal to me, but I applaud anyone pursuing a passion that is at least mostly harmless.
