So I just had a marathon and watched the entire series of Queer as Folk from start to finish, and I have to say it is one of the most amazing shows. I'm so inspired by it, and have been since I discovered the show at the tender age of 13. I'm 19 now and rewatching the entire series for the first time in years definitely made me fall in love with it all over again. It's had a huge impact on my life. The stuff that goes on in just ONE episode of this show gives other shows entire series a run for their money. At least I think so.

What about you guys? What do you think of the show?

My favourite characters are Debbie, Michael (I find I'm much like him), Brian, and Ted (I find I'm like him too in some ways).

Are you kidding? I love that show. I used to rewatch the entire series on youtube alot until they started pulling the videos. My favorites were Debbie, Emmett, Michael and Ben. I think most people were like Michael, well I atleast I feel that way.

That was so awesome when Brian paid Justins tuition even aftert hey broke up.

i love season one i even memorized the motto " there're two kinds of people in this world the one that hates you in your face and the one that hates you behind your back" the show has such an impact on me when it first came out i watch the british version first though however i re-watch the american version constantly brian is my favorite character gale harold is so damn hot

Why did it have to finish? I LOVED BRIAN! He was a jerk off addiction lol. Will we ever get a show like this again?

Never seen the US version. Enjoyed the original UK version though, but it must be 10 years old by now.

Never had Showtime so I barely ever got to see the episodes until somewhat recently with Logo. I've been a fan ever since.

My favorite (by far) is the fairy Emmett, followed by Michael, who's a bit too hard on himself. It took me a while to see the light and notice that Emmett is like the ultimate awesomeness of a femmed-out beautiful person and friend on the show.

He's just so positive all the time. I could never be that way and that's OK but I appreciate it in him. I'm not huge on extremely feminine guys, but he really does it for me. :)

Michael is my crush, by the way. He's fuckin' adorable!

:king:

When the broadcasting commission found out about the show they blocked it from all cable stations. However they forgot that the show repeated on tuesdays so for another 3 months we had until they found out about the repeats and blocked those too so i had to watch online.

Cable is something you pay for so i thought it was unfair for them to block it because they are against homosexuality.

I can't get over how Hal Sparks looks like now:

He's a bit of a rocker, he can't help it. Although I must admit, as much as I hate long hair, his isn't as bad as some people's.

Although judging by his twitter pic he has short hair again. I'm guessing it's recent since the noh8 campaign is about prop 8.

I googled it and the entry was near the end of august this year, so it's fairly recent.

On topic, I started watching the US episodes on youtube, got to about the beginning of season 4 and everything was pulled off youtube. #-o Guess I'll have to save up for the box sets in the future.

Being english I probably should have seen the UK version too, but from what I've seen I think I prefer the US version.

My Sir has seen all the episodes. I'm not sure if he owns them or not. I saw some of the episodes of Season 1 and they weren't too bad.

However, I saw the entire series of the original UK version. It was great. I like the characters names on the UK better.

Stuart, Vince, and Nathan. Stuart is a total ass in the original series and he and Nathan never move in. He fucks Nathan a few times though. They also do show more of the sex scenes. But I don't know for some reason the original series just felt right. The parents of Vince were actually pretty good characters too. Thought it was interesting when in the first episode Nathan is introduced to Vince's family as "someone Stuart fucked".

I am gonna try to watch the american version someday though. I just won't be able to get over the american names now.

Also the ending for the UK version is pretty good. I know some people don't like it but I do. I am curious to how much they actually did change though.

Watched the show when it was on Showtime. LOVE IT!

I had a crush on Emmett.

I liked Ted and Blake as a couple and wished Blake had been in more episodes. Was glad they got together at the end.

^You mean Showtime? LOL, HBO never aired QAF.

(oh, not many people commented because this is probably the 1000th thread on QAF  )

This one was the first thread that popped up when I typed in "Queer As Folk", I wasn't aware of others.

I've seen the entire UK version
And part of the US one
...one of these days I should dig out my DVD's & start watching again...

I'm rewatching it now with a friend who hasn't seen it. It's inspiring to see how outdated many of the attitudes exhibited by straight people on the show are. At the same time, it's still just as good as when I first saw it. I am in love with Justin and Emmet as characters. Incredibly strong, both of them.

Hated Michael with a fiery passion though. I feel like he is that one character that the writers of the show loved and thought he was innocent and goofy, but loveable, when in reality, he ALWAYS makes the wrong choices, and comes across as a dumb spineless shit.

I became fan of QAF from start to finish. Taped all the shows and also have collection of DVS's of the show. I adored Justin and Debbie as two favorite characters. But also enjoyed the other characters on the show. It was daring at time and kudos to Showtime to having balls to put show on. After it was cable you chose if want to watch it or not. What stands out to me first show when Brian and Justin meet first time. Justin is unsure of sexual activities of gay guys. As they are in be Brian as do you do rimming? Brian of course gets right meat of the subject, now you know what rimming is.

My favorite characters were Brian and Emmett and I loved it when it was first on the air but in an attempt to rewatch it a few years ago I found it a bit dull and couldn't get through it. I still liked Brian and Emmett though.

Great show! Ground-breaking in so many ways. The show was shot in Toronto and I lived there at the time so it was fun spotting familiar bars and neighborhoods that were supposed to be in Pittsburgh. I even had a few friends who were cast as extras. Favorite characters were Emmett, Justin, Ben and Ted.
