finally caught a few eps this weekend. have to admit that i was surprised at how NOT awful the show was. also surprised that the guy i thought i'd hate the most, was actually the one person who actually impressed me...Scott.

from the way everyone was sweating him, i was SURE he would turn out to be just an obnoxious pretty-boy, running around with no other concern other than how much ass he could pull in. i can definately see the hype though--the guy is GORGEOUS!!! even better, he SEEMS to be a pretty decent guy. i'm not entirely convinced of the sincerity of his giving Kate money. i'd like to believe that it was done solely out of the kindness of his heart, but i couldn't help but wonder if it was more about playing the hero. i dunno...maybe that's just the cynic in me.

none of the girls have really impressed me. barely noticed the dancer.
 
I think there is a lot about Scott that wasnt shown. Although Scott is this big buff guy now, I get the impression that this wasnt always the case. I think at some point he was a weak little guy that people picked on. During one of Kate and Scott's fights, when Scott is refusing to unlock the cabinet, Devin yells at him something like he is being a bully just like the bullies that used to pick on him. Thats prolly why he is so sensitive to someone who is sort of an outcast and who is different.
 
Poor Ryan!!!! I would love to know if he had to return in Feb. As for Chet.....UGH!!!! WTF?! He mormon or amish? He seems so clueless but thinks he knows everything! He really is starting to rub me the wrong way. Anyone see that video of him drooling over Scott while they are in Halloween costumes? It was really gay! Not just a little gay but Booby Trendy gay. Chet was eating him up!
 
I'm suprised Scott's a republican, he's probably the most open minded republican I know about but maybe I just don't know many republicans because the area I'm in.

This is the episode Ryan has been most likable in. You've never gotten to see so much about someone who has the background he has in any other reality show. Rachel from Austin was a war nurse but you didn't get to know as much about her experiences and she wasn't in the middle of combat as much as Ryan. Same thing about Caitlyn and the transgender thing. She looks like just a regular person instead of what you usually see from transgender people. It was probably the same with people who knew nothing about gays and thought every gay was a stereotype until they actually saw more gay people through reality tv.

This entire season is all about everything everyone complained about the past 10 seasons of the Real World not having. The producer probably read what people were complaining about and took that advice to change this season and cast the most diverse cast this show has ever had. Anyone who whines "This seasons is all about drinking, having sex, and fighting" has either not watched this season or is an idiot.
 
^I'm also surprised that Scott is Republican. I'd love to hear more about his political views. I also have never seen a Republican so open-minded. I actually met one other girl who was socially liberal but Republican. Sometimes politics can be like religion where people are Republican because their family is Republican. But who knows what Scott's deal is.
 
It just shows that politics comes in all different flavors. I know a few guys who identify themselves with the Democratic party, yet they always make fun of gay people and use the word "fag" way too often.

I remember a while ago, someone posted Ryan's myspace page and it was filled with comments about being in Iraq. There was some skepticism and whether it was real. This episode sort of clarifies that.

I liked this past episode with the center on Ryan. Actually teared up at the end. Does anyone know if he went back or just stationed somewhere?

OMG! I was embarrassed for him!!! what did he think was gonna happen when he put that up? Even Ryan thought that was stupid. I'm not hoping he makes it as a host anywhere. His true colors are coming out. Wait till his family sees his shit. especially all the gay curiosity! He is gonna be the last one to know he's gay. He can fight it all he wants but when he closes his eyes at night he sees dick going in his mouth! And PLEASE to the never jacked off!!!! He is so just saying that since his family is watching. His body does look pretty nice though. i'll give him that.

He started training at the end of January and he goes back on April 15.
The reunion was taped last Thursday and I heard Ryan couldn't make it there.

I think we are about the same age and remember when the original seasons first started airing. It was a different show all together. It seems like people who are only a few years younger dont remember the early years and didnt really notice real world until the later seasons where fights were all drunken and slutty.

So I think its kinda hard for a lot of people to connect with this season which harkens back to the original (minus the dish hiding bullshit). But it's very similar to the beginning when people had to find their own jobs, friends, and ways to make money. They should have never introduced group jobs. It's kind of better when the roommates all have their own lives. But it sucks for certain roommates because a lot of them are getting neglected in terms of camera time.
 
The last Real World that I REALLY liked was San Francisco, except Puck. They were all pretty good people.

Noteworthy diverse cast, excellent hook-ups and fights, but yet they always managed to sober up and act like real functionally normal human beings on occasion.

I've never had a problem with the past few seasons. I thought they did good with other storylines even though it did have a lot of sex, drinking and fighting. A lot of that stuff is interesting. I also liked Chicago mainly because Aneesa and Chris were so interesting to follow.

I think the best real world was the very first one in NY.This new one in Brooklyn I just stopped watching it I hate all the people on there.
