Very cool! I lived in Los Angeles for college back in 1983-1987 and would see the McDonald brothers at The Pandoras and The Bangles shows all the time. Love this band! As posted above, cool to see Roy from The Muffs on drums. Hope The Muffs put out some new tunes soon.

What does it mean?

"But yeah, Researching the Blues. We couldn't come up with a title, and I'd just thought about that. I'd been reading these John and Alan Lomax books, like Bob Dylan and history of the Carter Family—just these ridiculous, scholarly American roots books. And I'd remembered that we had this song on Ze Malibu Kids record called "Fiona Apple," which actually had nothing to do with Fiona Apple. And there was a line in the song, "She wrote a song about me while researching the blues." And I just thought that was funny, I couldn't even remember the origin of that line, but I liked the idea about being scholarly about the blues. But it can mean many things, like obsessively doing things that make you miserable, which a lot of people do."

"I’m going through a phase or a depression or both because I can’t stop reading rock bios. They’re all over the house. I ingest them so fast I can’t even tell you the titles or the authors for that matter. Some of my favorite subjects for the past few months have been Patti Smith, Sammy Hagar, Steve Marriott, Big Star, Carter Family, Steven Tyler, Bob Dylan, Freddie Mercury, John and Alan Lomax, Keith Richards, Paul McCartney, Johnny Ramone, Lady Gaga and Gregg Allman, to name a few.
