I have been away for the last couple of weeks with work (which is why I haven't been posting as much recently). I am working with our 21 year old trainee at a factory near Glastonbury.

He is definitely straight, though I think he's cute. We get on very well, and I hardly notice the age-gap most of the time (he's half my age). We have a meal and a few drinks, and chat about all sorts of stuff at the hotel in the evenings. He knows I'm gay and has never been at all bothered by it, though it's not a regular subject for discussion.

Next week, due to lack of hotel rooms in the area, we will be sharing a twin room. He is not bothered at all, as he regularly stays with mates or has mates over to stay (often sharing a bed too). Since he has sometimes come to my room to check his email on my laptop etc and we also end up texting between rooms anyway, it is probably easier and more sensible that we are together. It saves money for the (small) company too, which is good.

Since I haven't shared a room with anyone other than a partner for many years, I will just follow his lead on how far to undress in the presence of the other person etc (I guess down to underwear, then into the bathroom).

I will try to look the other way when he is changing, even though I would rather watch closely......

I am not expecting anything "interesting" to happen (though if it does, which is extremely unlikely, I won't complain!).

I don't think you should change your sleeping habits, although keeping your underwear on is only proper. It's my guess he will do the same. From what you say about him, I don't think he'd be very upset if he caught you peeking. I would imagine he will be expecting it.

You've never given him reason for concern in the past. I doubt if it will be an issue in the future. Enjoy the companionship. I'm sure he will, too.

I wouldnt be surprised that if your changing in the same room with him, that he doesn't sneak a peek at what you have. I have had 2 straight coworkers come to parties here at my house, and when the time has come to get into the hottub, I have caught all 3 of them stealing quick glances at my cock... i wouldnt worry about it too much, all that will do is affect your sleeping. just treat it like any normal situation...

It is normal for even straight guys to sneak a peek at other guys. But I wouldn't be surprised if he completely strips down in front of you before heading to the shower.

Bring a pair of handcuffs.

Not for S&M, but rather for him to chain you to the bed so you don't get tempted at 2 am. :-)

*Cynical mode*

You're "out" to him; are you "out" to the whole company? Would they put a straight female and a straight male in the same room? Is there a liability issue here?

Sounds like a lot of fun to me, even if nothing happens you will always have the memories of the trip to*|*
Maybe you could rent an in-room movie, something straight of course, who knows where it might lead.

Thanks for your thoughts, all.

Well there are only three of us in the company (me, him and the boss). I'm out to the boss, and have been for over 15 years. I have worked with the boss at various companies since I was 16 and he was 17. The trainee is also a friend of the boss' son, which I think is partly why he got the job.

So I think I am trusted to behave.

The room was actually booked by the company we are doing the work at (because they obviously know the local hotels) rather than by the boss. However the boss phoned the hotel later to get the reservation extended for a further night.

That was my plan. It's only polite.

I think the clue may be whether he faces towards me or away from me when changing his underwear. If he turns his back to me then I think that's a hint that I shouldn't be looking.

He's the sort of guy who seems to be not bothered about things generally. He is good company, and seems quite mature for his age (at least compared to what he says some of his mates of similar age do).
He sounds like a real nice guy, and it's really lucky that you would get to work with such an accepting individual. Take advantage of the friendship, and enjoy it.
Indeed - and I don't want to spoil that.

That would be inviting some sort of joke comment about my stress level... :)

Hmmm - I don't think I'll be doing that.... ;) Anyway I don't think the £70 per night room will have such facilities.

You do realise we will be expecting you to post, ahem.....a blow by blow, complete
journal of what went on from check in to check out. ;)

Thanks for your thoughts, all.

I don't doubt that you are trusted.

By starting this thread, you are obviously at least interested in considering the possibility of something happening, no?

So if you two have a little alcohol, he makes a first uneasy move, you take him up on it . . . the next morning he wakes up and has second thoughts. Files a sexual harassment suit.

Sure, it's a very slight chance that all of those things are going to happen. But they could.

It would make a very interesting legal case.

Logically, since he knows you're gay, and he knows you'll be staying the same room, he could opt out or complain beforehand. But a good lawyer could easily contravene that logic in court.

Anyway, I'm getting too serious here.

I'm sure everyone will get their jollies from trying to sneak a peak at each other's jewels--have fun!

I think, seeing as how this is a work relationship, I'd err on the side of caution. The kid, and at 21 he really is just a kid, is just getting started in life and I think he deserves the best shot at things, including getting the best training you know how to give him.

*tee hee*

Now, I actually didn't mean that in a sexual way.

What I mean is that you shouldn't put him in a situation that makes for complications, either now or in the future.

If it were me, I wouldn't remove a stitch of clothing outside the bathroom, unless the bathroom is too small to do so.

But hey, I'm an uptight American. ;) Land of the freakishly religious and quick-on-the-draw with lawsuits.

Thanks for sharing. (*8*)

In fact the main reason for posting is for some hints on how to behave properly in this sort of situation and not make an idiot of myself or cause embarassment.

We normally go to the hotel after work, and shower etc before going down for dinner. I will probably suggest he uses the bathroom first while I check my email, then I can follow his lead.

If anything did happen, which I think is extremely unlikely, it would have to be started and steered by him. Since the chances of even a gay 21 year old wanting to get off with a work colleague twice his age (and a bit overweight) is slim, I don't think that's going to be an issue.

As for alcohol, he could easily out-drink me and would think nothing of downing six pints in an evening and still have his wits about him. Since we can have two drinks each on company expenses and have to pay for the rest ourselves (he is trying to save money, and two is enough for me), and we also have to be in a fit state for an early start the following morning, there won't be much alcohol consumed (there hasn't been for the last couple of weeks when we were working together). So that won't be an issue.

You work together. So keep it in your pants, even if he sends you signals that he wants to do otherwise.. you're the older, senior employee here.

Go into the bathroom to change, and wear and T-shirt and boxers to bed.

Be respectful of his privacy and don't leer at him.

It's this coming week (Tuesday 29th to Thursday 31st Aug). I'm back late on Friday 1st Sept and will post the outcome on Saturday 2nd Sept.

I wish I had a crystal ball and could see and post the outcome now, but I don't.

Meanwhile my imagination is doing overtime....

I routinley share the same bed with one of 2 striaght guys that I take short trips with. Sometimes are harder then others for me but first and foremost they are friends so why would I want to do anytign with them regardless of how much I lust after both of them.
