It reminds me of Final Fantasy 2 (atleast I think it was two here in the states? i get so confused by the switching) because of the light vs dark self thing.

It looks like it may be a bit spazzy as far as contols go for my liking, but definitely rentable.

Care to elaborate?

I think he means that Sega is pretty much beating a dead horse. Sonic games haven't been good in a while. And with each new game they just trying to revive a dead corpse.

I hope that makes sense.

I might pick this one up. I have The Secret Rings and honestly I would like it better if it wasn't for the Wiimote steering controls, so I'm glad this one will use the nunchuck instead.

There's something that kind of concerns me though, what is it that people want in a Sonic game nowadays? People keep saying that Sonic is all about running like mad, and this is a big fat lie. Playing back the old Sonic games and running was not all that you did, otherwise you'd be paying 50+ bucks just to hold right for 30 minutes. Fun?

The only 3d Sonic games I have played are Sonic Heroes and The Secret Rings.

Sonic Heroes had so many stupid flaws, but I actually enjoy the gameplay. If it wasn't for the lame voice acting, the glitchy camera, the weird physics, the unnecessary huge cast, the generic looking enemies... then we would have had a descent game.

The Secret Rings had interesting mechanics and all, but I don't like the steering controls. I don't see how this wasn't seen as functional. It's just harder than it should be to move how you want to move because of this.

I'm yet to play Unleashed but I plan to buy it. What its true though is that Sega is just not putting enough work on their Sonic titles. It's like he has gone to be a B list character now. When Mario barely has one big adventure per generation nowadays, Sonic has 3+ bad to so so ones.

I wouldn't trust IGN too much though, they are such crybabies sometimes.

The game sucks. Sonic games in general have sucked greatly since the Dreamcast.

They should just kill the franchise.

The 3.9 from IGN is quite warranted.

I wouldn't trust Nintendo Power because they always give inflated (in this case greatly inflated) to Wii exclusive titles.

I expect extremely low scores from other gaming sites.

I have to admit. This game looks interesting.

However. I am very cautious about sonic now.

I played some of "Sonic Unleashed"

I was really dissapointed for a few reasons.

1. Being the most obvious. Of sonic's voice change. I have still never really gotten over that.

2. The Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 games. Getting the homing attack and some other moves happened later on in the game. And you used the jump button for that attack. With unleashed you have to press the jump and another button. Also. You need ring power for doing short bursts. The DS Sonic Rush series has started this as well. I'm not particular fond of it. The only time sonic originally needed rings was to keep his power in Super Sonic form.

Becuase of these two changes I felt like although the game does look very nice and glossy that they changed what originally was a good concept. The sonic adventure series I mean.

However besides those minor changes it's kind of fun to play.

Sega does need some sympathy. I feel that they are slowly trying to revive sonic. But with the "OMG SONIC'S A WEREWOLF", "SONIC AND HIS ARABIAN ADVENTURE!", "SONIC AND THE KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE!" that these are all just somewhat gimmicks.

Sonic and the secret rings wasn't too bad though. Sonic wielding a sword does look sort of interesting. Especially that cut scene between him and knight shadow. But it's like when they made shadow the hedgehog and he wielded a gun. I don't think either of them needs to wield any sort of weapon and it sort of takes away from the classic sonic style. Which they've clearly already done.

I almost thing that altogether Sega should stop making sonic games since with each game they take more and more away from the classic sonic style and just kill it and give sonic a bad name. But who knows. Maybe after the 100th try they'll get it right.

Even though Sonic Unleashed gives me mixed feeling though. If I can find a used copy I might pick up the game since besides those 2 changes. The game diddn't seem that bad. But the story and concept still gives me mixed feelings.

I don't think I understand very well what your point is.

Apparently this game has been getting average to good reviews on most sites, but IGN did tear it down badly.
