Star Trek Movie - May 2009

I'm looking forward to the movie but I hope they stay true to the Star Trek theme and don't run off in a new direction that takes it too far away from what we've all come to love with the franchise.

To the guy who was upset with them building part of the Enterprise on Earth.. yeah I thought that too, but I read in an interview where he explains why and how it is done that way.... something to do with the force the enterprise would go through when traveling at warp so it has to sustain near earth gravity anyway.... it was a little over my head but seemed to make enough sense to make it work. *shrugs*

i'm with robin here... i honestly think the franchise took a break because it really got pretty heavy from all of its history and cannon. now is as good a time as any for a re-boot or refresh and see where they go. i for one am excited now that i've seen this footage. it looks like it will be fun!

yeah, that is the one thing that i love most about the whole star trek universe- the wonderful outlook.

oh second trailer with ending was neat. is the movie supposed to be a retelling? so they can in fact change whatever they want? if so i didn't know that i guess that's fine.

to be honest with you i have no earthly idea how much of a retelling or reboot this is. in fact i really don't want to know so i can at least have some surprises when i show up for the movie.
 
Just one thing that occurred to me... the only thing that could break this film is canon.

I think one problem that Star Trek has is that it drowned in its own lore (not data's evil brother...), which could be part of the reason why Enterprise failed.

canon is what has made star trek a real story instead of the other worthless sci fi trash out there. (canon mistakes are fine; purposeful blunders like this movie appears to be making are a no go for me). :mad:

scotty is 11 years older than kirk. the character inspired me to go to college and study to be an engineer; so he's very important to me. if this movie even begins to suggest that scotty and kirk were at the academy together as students, i'm leaving the franchise.

earth MUST be a utopia. if the movie takes that away, i'm also gone.
 
but, but... i wanted the movie to be a date nite for you and i. :(
