I think there is a thread that mentions it but I couldnt find it. I just caught the DVR of the premiere and i enjoyed it. It's different than I thought it would be and I'm sure not everyone will be pleased but when is everyone happy with something?

I enjoy most of the cast so far but I want to see more Ming-Na. And I wish it was 3 hours instead of 2. It left a lot missing to start.

It premieres on Tuesday on Sky1 here in the UK

Will be interesting to see how it compares with SG-1 / Atlantis

I loved the premiere! I like stargate, but it would have been so much better had they not kept the camp after RDA left the show. This is exactly what I would want in a new stargate show.

I think this series will be the best stargate series by far. It never hurts to add a little BSG into a scifi show.

I LOVED IT!!! Looks very promising. I enjoyed the cast, the acting was good and it had a bit of a BSG feeling to it sometimes, which I believe to be a good thing. I'm really excited about this show. It's gonna be great!

I've never been able to get into any of the Stargate series before, even though I really enjoyed the movie.

But I watched this one last night and really enjoyed it! It shows a lot of promise and I can't wait to see next weeks.

I just wish that they would introduce a gay character... but I imagine that is just wishful thinking.

Basically, the show is like a watered down Battlestar with a dash of Star Trek Voyager stirred in. ..|

This sure ain't the SG-1 I grew up with WAYYYYYY back in 98 or 99. Back then it was a simpler show; gate in, solve the mystery, gate back home. RDA was funny but the whole gang always had a warm rapport. Atlantis was not SG-1, but Atlantis managed to find it's sea legs after living in the shadow of SG-1.

I know it is harsh to compare SGU with it's past incarnations but the Stargate franchise does come with its own share or accolades and baggage. The 2-hour pilot was pretty much everything I expected based on the few trailers released - lost in space, drama between civilians & the military (a common thread in SG), a central mystery, shaky-cam like presentation, rookie-turned-leader moments, etc. Quite generic. The few surprises were the morally ambigious protagonist played by Robert Carlyle and the vastness of the ship they are stuck on.

Overall, I wasn't too impressed but I think they could have done worse. It draws too many comparison with BSG, which is actually not a good thing for me. BSG was BSG (stellar series btw) but the SG franchise has always been lighter and funnier. Almost like Eureka (but not as wild). SGU by comparison is almost oppresive and too dark (literally and figuratively). The characters are too serious. With no other competing SG shows, I wish SGU the best. The show has potential. I, like the reviewers before me, am interested to see what direction SGU will embark upon.

After 10 years or so, I think it is high time for a gay character to be in SG (Ming-Na's character does not count). C'mon Brad & Cooper, we wanna see some guy-on-guy action sometime this decade already!

So far so good. It's caught my attention although the BSG sex scene is something I could have done without. I sincerely hope this sci-fi series doesn't shy away from teh gay. Sci-Fi is supposed to be about questioning social conventions and human values - sexuality is a hot topic, so why hasn't sci-fi been very progressive on this topic?

Here's to hoping Stargate breaks that, uh, silence in a tactful way.

Have never watched a stargate series before, so I'm new to the franchise, but it has potential. Did notice a lot of similarities to BSG, especially the camera style, but no complaints yet. Sci fi is my favourite genre so here's to hoping this pans out ..|

I liked it but wasn't blown away. It's good they went in a different direction but it felt firmly stuck in the the 'a little bit of Star Trek Voyager, a little bit of Stargate' bracket which isn't a bad thing but hardly original.

I'll keep watching for a while to see if it gathers more pace, which is more than I can say for a lot of US imports of late.

I'm a crazy Stargate fanboy so I was just in ecstasy getting my fix of Stargate on Friday...so my views of the show will be biased lol. I love how the new series is more gritty and dark but still has that humor that's characteristic of the older series. SGU does feel like a mash-up of Battlestar Galatica and Voyager, but I have faith in the writers. The sex scene was awkward and unnecessary in my opinion. Robert Carlyle really stole the show in the pilot, although I wish that his character were slightly more cold. I have high hopes for the show and can't wait to see non-human races and learn more about the Ancients.

Hey .. nice to see you posting again. If you do like Sci Fi you really should see the rest of the Stargate Series - after all it has been one of the most successful in it's genre ..

I just saw the Pilot, too - and hmm .. I don't know what to think yet. We will see how the regular episodes carry out. At the moment I don't like the scientist AND the video-gamer/kid character at all :( And usually those have been my favorite chars in the SG series :(

Hey sexy ;)

I've watched two, maybe three stargate episodes in the past, Atlantis I think. Wasn't too impressed by them. Which would you suggest? SG-1 or Atlantis?

Atlantis was good, but I guess to fully enjoy it you should have seen SG1.
Problem here is that SG1 starts reaaaaaaaaallly cheesy :) But at around Season3 it gets better, and they managed quite good to incorporate some of the old seasons into the background story. At the end of the series it gets worse again, but after all I think it's worth to watch them. But it's a huge project since they have 10 seasons :)

I agree completely. It was so weird and unnecessary. It completely took away from the story and actually made me like the male lead less.

I agree that the sex scene was rather unnecessary, random, didn't contribute anything to the character or the plot. It looked like sex for the sake of attempting to be edgy. I'll forgive the writers, though. This is new territory for Stargate, there's going to be some awkward oopses along the way.

There was a sex scene? I completely missed that bit.
I see what you did there.

Sex scene? What sex scene?

Since the other person, also in the UK, never saw it either, we obviously saw a censored version over here

Oh well, looks like someone who saw it's gonna have to describe it to us......

The sex scene was lame. The guy called Lt. Scott and some very plain looking chick were humping against a wall in what looked like a supply closet. It was kinda graphic. There's no nudity but you can see his nicely muscled legs when he pulls up his underwear and pants. But it was not hot because the girl is a bad actress not that cute and they seemed to have zero chemistry. And like previously mentioned it was just so dumb and unnecessary. The sex is interrupted when Scott has to leave to meet Eli and Chloe for their arrival.
