Stargate Universe

^ well and she got something out of it for her partner AND eli's mother in the end.
i really like her character :)

I love Camille. She's been my favorite from Day 1. She's kind of not who one would expect to be popular but she's a cool lady in my books. The only thing I think she is being a little too lenient on the Lucians. If they killed her girlfriend I bet she'd want them all executed.

What? Is it his age? The long hair? The facial hair? The less than muscular body? Some of the previous? All of the previous? None of the previous?
I just don't think he is an attractive guy at all. He has the bony face an beady little eyes. Zeros across the board imo. Plus his character his just skeevy and gross to me that i just get disgusted by him.

I'm thinking, given how her partner seems to be crawling into a bottle to cope, that she may try and swing it that her partner comes to try and help the relationship.

There's the other tall brunette military woman who seems to be somewhat attracted to Camile, if I remember aright from an episode or two from last season.

It's possible as Camile's current relationship may begin to deteriorate, something may happen on ship between the two.
Last week I kept thinking that Camile's partner, Sharon, is acting weird cause she's cheating on her. Every time I see the two together I always think maybe one of them will cheat.

Camille could see and feel Sharon, but Sharon will have to deal with socializing with another person physically.

And WHY aren't there a gay man or two? I mean, I can understand none of the male miliatary are up to anything, DADT afterall... but what about among the civies?
I know right? So far at least the ones in the military shown seem to be American. But since the military personnel get killed off or missing more frequently (Rivers in season finale, Riley two weeks ago, Telford last week), being discharged is impractical at least while on Destiny.

Remember it might take place in the present but the politicians and most likely governments are different, though 9/11 still happened in that universe. So DADT might not even be law anymore or hasn't existed in the first place since the Stargate program started around 1994.

This business with Chloe, and Rush's using of her is kinda creepy.

And Young is going to be pissed when he finds out what Rush has been doing.
Another Rush gets beat up episode? :D

He's turning into this series' version of Ben Linus from LOST, who always gets beat up.

The show is too dark, literally. Seriously, can they put some lights on that ship or shoot it differently. That's my only critique. Overall, I like the show.

It's not bony, it's angular.

And his eyes aren't beady. They're brown and softish.

And he's not his character though he defintely studies hard and intensely for his roles. He played the role of a bus driver in one project, and in study for the role, actually went out took, and passed the driving-a-bus-with-passengers exam.

On top of that, he's just a damn good actor. :)

That said, you're welcome to pooh pooh, and ick aobut him all you like. :D

It's interesting. Someone's personality can completely imbue them with attractiveness or rob them of it.

I don't see how anyone can find Rush attractive. He behaves like a rat (no, that's an insult to rats), and he's even starting to look like one (that beard is made of lose). It's a credit to Carlyle's acting that he makes the fact that Rush is a bitter, selfish, detestable person show on his face; it makes him entirely repulsive.

Carlyle himself? I have no idea. Maybe if I saw him play a more likeable character, or saw him as himself on a talk show. Certainly he wasn't at all unattractive in that long booze promo (can't remember the brand).

This has happened to me before. I only watched the first season or two of Smallville, and Lex Luthor was hot hot hot! The way he talked, and the way he was constantly struggling against his own inner darkness, just made him smoke. I thought it was his looks. Then I saw the actor as himself, and he did absolutely nothing for me.

As they try to get closer to a stargate where they can dial home, couldn't they have some interesting adventures with new life forms a la Star Trek?

They're not trying to get close to a Stargate where they can dial home. The only Stargates that have that capacity destroy the planet they're on, and such planets are few and far between (there have been a grand total of TWO discovered so far, and both are gone now).

Also, they don't control the ship. Until recently, it went where it wanted to go, or where there were supplies it needed. Since Rush took secret control, it goes to some random-ass place with no supplies and no gates.

But our heroes can't make the ship go anywhere at all. They're at the mercy of its programming, as far as they know, and currently at the mercy of Rush's selfish arrogance in reality.

this is why i watch.

I personally don't think he was entirely pleased that two people had to die in order for his agenda to proceed, but then again, though it may bother him on the one hand, he does seem willing to sacrifice whomever for his perception of the bigger picture and understanding.

With one exception: Nicholas Rush. That's what makes him a scumbag. If he could find out everything he wants to know at the cost of killing everyone else on the ship, I think he would do it and call it a regrettable necessity. If he could give all the knowledge to the world, save the ship, and get everyone home by dying, he wouldn't even consider doing so.

And, personally, I like the look for the show; gloomy and dark and oppressive. The entire series has a darker tone to it than the previous outings in the franchise and that appeals to me as well.

With you there. My favorite Star Trek series was Deep Space Nine for the same reasons.

When we were first introduced to the Wraith in SG: Atlantis, we were just given a cheap alien rip off of the vampire mythos. My interest in the show rapidly deteriorated.

They're actually not even that creative. They're bog-standard Space Vampires. In fantasy, vampires drink blood; in science fiction, they behave the same way, but a) there's some excuse for them existing and b) they "drain life energy." Even the aging effect has been seen in dozens of cheapass skiffy flicks.

this is why i watch.

Indeed. That deserves to be bigger:

I'm not sure I would go for this actor, but the character he plays...if I could have a boyfriend with exactly that personality I'd forgive him almost any other failing he might have.

For the most part, I like the show. The more at odds the characters are with each other and the more hopeless things seem, the better.

Somebody mentioned it earlier. No need for a whole episode to be dedicated to one man's delusional dream of being back on earth.

So rumour has it the show is axed and can I just say thankfully. Really had the a 5 year plan to boar us to death Christ how long now has Chole been changing? Please explain to me what happened to TJ's baby? WTF she would have had to have the fetus removed or it would have killed her would it not have as I'm expecting it to be well developed at the point she was shot. Where is it? If there is no body how can it be dead. Therefore why do/did people not believe her when she said about the baby. Had these things been answered quicker I would have been happy but the show was going nowhere explaining nothing. Hell the mid season cliffhanger was underwhelming.

I just hope Atlantis and SG1 can get TV movies now this crap is gone.

I'm sad it's been axed. I've enjoyed the slower pacing of the show; If the Chloe scenario had happened on SG-1, she would've transformed into an alien, and then back into a human by the end of the episode. That they're taking longer to show this change, and that they're showing it's really messing with her and the crew, and that they all don't really understand what's going on is refreshing.

SG:U is brilliant in what it sets out to do.

i'm disappointed with syfy for cancelling sgu.

it was so much better than the other two star gate shows.
