Stargate Universe

Not surprised it's been canceled. They totally lost my interest this season. The cliffhanger from last season was good but everything went downhill fast. It got so boring. Btwn all these damn hallucination episodes, Chloe changing, and Rush's secret lair being secret for an eternity it was just plain awful. Rush needs to be used sparingly b/c he is just so loathsome. But nope, they gave him this ridiculous secret room to hallucinate about his dead ex that no one cares about and talk about science that no viewer would understand. Instead they should have focused on character stories like TJ and that Lucian, or Eli and his little 5-min girlfriend.

OK in regards to slow pacing I loved it hell I watched Lost and BSG but I'm 1st to admit that up until ep 6 I think of the 1st season were we see the prison ship it was like watching paint dry. I understood why it was happening but it lacked the pace and engery of the mini series. Then Universe came trying to be different but I saw this all done in BSG. I don't mind them moving away from the traditional storylines/characters etc of SGA and SG1. Hell I loved that in DS9 they went to war but seriously people are right everything was just too slow. The plot was not beining driven forward in anyway. Had this had been a TV Movie I think it would have worked better. IMO it was a good idea on paper but was not excuted properly.

With one exception: Nicholas Rush. That's what makes him a scumbag. If he could find out everything he wants to know at the cost of killing everyone else on the ship, I think he would do it and call it a regrettable necessity. If he could give all the knowledge to the world, save the ship, and get everyone home by dying, he wouldn't even consider doing so.

With you there. My favorite Star Trek series was Deep Space Nine for the same reasons.

They're actually not even that creative. They're bog-standard Space Vampires. In fantasy, vampires drink blood; in science fiction, they behave the same way, but a) there's some excuse for them existing and b) they "drain life energy." Even the aging effect has been seen in dozens of cheapass skiffy flicks.

Indeed. That deserves to be bigger:

I'm not sure I would go for this actor, but the character he plays...if I could have a boyfriend with exactly that personality I'd forgive him almost any other failing he might have.

Brian J. Smith (Matthew Scott) has a couple of movies out. Both films are available on Netflix for streaming.
The War Boys:
Hoping for fast cash, David (Benjamin Walker), George (Brian J. Smith) and Greg (Victor Rasuk) -- friends whose high school pastime was chasing illegals back across the Texas-Mexico border -- steal a rig from David's father, Slater (Peter Gallagher). But the illegal cargo proves more alarming than stolen TVs. As their plan falls apart and truths come to light, the guys find themselves as vulnerable as the migrants they had chased at the border.
