Survivor 24: One World (Redemption Island is GONE!)

WOO HOO! I'm SO glad I was wrong and Tarzan is GONE! Kudos to slip for calling that a long time ago! I'm actually starting to believe Kim could pull this off based on the fact that all the editing makes her look like a leader and brilliant strategist and no one left in the game is really being given an underdog/silent usurper edit.

Holy fuck Christina, though. If she would have just saved Troy by being a total dumbass I would have been so annoyed.

Both Christina and Sabrina were stupid this week. The former for practically giving Tarzan a manual for surviving the vote with the instruction "Vote me out" underlined in red ink, and Sabrina for unnecessarily telling Christina she was the back up vote. I mean WTF? "You're not in danger. We're just voting for you in case Troy plays an idol which means we think it's possible he might have one, and if he does then you'd be the one going home but you're totally NOT IN DANGER!"

That was the most boring episode this season. No matter how hard the editors tried to cover the obvious outcome, they had nothing to work with. Played strictly by the numbers. No clever strategies, no twists. Oh well. Hopefully the girls start scratching each others eyes out now and make it more interesting. It needs more drama.

I just want to point out that Kim has performed well in every challenge and freaking WON both reward and immunity this week back to back, but there's no crowing from Probst about what a challenge monster she is.

Because she has a snatch, natch.

This season has been getting decent ratings against Idol but still Survivor's lowest ever... I bring this up because back in their days, Vanuatu and Micronesia underperformed too. I guess the casuals hate when women alliances take over. That or this is going to scare the producers into using a parade of returning players for a couple of more years.

It has turned into a boring season, and even if I liked the women winning it would still be a boring season because they are boring. When they started out all bitching and whining to each other I thought it was going to be great and it turned into this Kim love fest which is, obviously, lost to me because she is the biggest bore of all. At least do-do Kat, Sabrina and Wonky eyed- Alicia have a presence.

Why do they keep talking about making "big moves" as if something might actually happen to surprise us. You want Tarzan in Final 3 since he has zero chance of winning and most of us can predict the remaining pecking order afoot among the hens.

so i was reading on some site about next season, and ill post it in white for people who dont want spoilers

so i think its something like a second chance season with medical evacuations, its all up in the air still, but it seems that mike skupin from austrailan outback (the burned hands guy), russell swan (black guy in samoa, passed out in a challenge), and jonathan penner (injured knee in fans vs favorites), and its said to have a 3 tribe format, which we havent seen since all stars. i kind of like the twist as the returning players deserve it and i kind of like them.

I'll believe that format when it happens. Probst has always been against it, although with the names listed, I guess it's not hard to see why he'd want to do it...

If that white text potential spoiler is right about the thematic conceit for next season, I think we all know who will be returning from this season.

I think the rumor is somewhat credible. Shooting has officially started earlier than previous seasons. So a leak at this point is not farfetched. But I don't think in all of Survivor history there have been 18 evacuees. I think only 9 or 10. So maybe just one team consists of them.

sorry i should have made the spoiler more clear, spoiler below

only those 3 would be returning, they woudl be the only 3 players and each woudl be on a different tribe, just like redemption island only had 2 returning players, so mike, russell, and johnathan, would each be on a separate tribe. and everyone else in the game would be new,

Oh.. that's stupid. Either make them all returning or none. I HATE when they have a couple of oldies and the rest are new.

God me too. It always results in the newbies being star struck (if you allow a VERY loose interpretation of "star") and letting the vets stay around longer than they should. I've hated it every time they've done it on Survivor and Big Brother. Just do a full All Stars or a full new cast.

I mean for fuck sakes, Rachel Reilly is a winner in a game of social strategy. That's...not right.

Even so, I do prefer Micronesia/BB13's system of half old/half new over Guatemala/Redemption Island/South Pacific's 2 returning people against a new cast. Because out of the six returning players in those three seasons, FOUR (Stephenie, Rob, Coach and Ozzy) had new players forming creepy cults around them.

ETA: I forgot all about Jessie and his harem of bitches in BB11! The only difference there is that the two sides in BB11 hated each other so much that it was great entertainment, boosted by access to the feeds because it was BB. I wouldn't want to see one returning player in BB again either though.

Actually I don't want to see anyone from either season of Survivor or BB return. Ever. Enough of the returnees.

Well, they could bring Sandra back as much as they want and I would be totally okay with it. ;)

I know you're half-joking, but the more times a favorite player returns, the more chances they get to destroy their myth. It was easy to think of Janelle as a scrappy underdog who was smarter than she looked on BB6, until she came back for All Stars and proved that she really was that dumb/easily manipulated. Better to let their myth-making season be their coda.

If Sandra returns for a third or fourth time, she will eventually be voted out and I'd rather just think of her as the woman who was never voted out in TWO seasons. That's legendary enough.
