Survivor - Fans vs. Favorites

Does anyone know when the last season started filming? Because it seems to me that there is no way Brenda could be about to give birth now and not have been pregnant already while they were filming. Didn't Malcolm say he went back into the game for the new season right after the live reunion show from his first one?

Apparently Kat's loved one on the next season is Hayden from BB12? WTF? I thought people on Sucks were just being funny or ironic by making a running joke of a loved one having the same name as him, but it seems like he is actually the Hayden who's going on there with her. I mean.... out of all of the people who have ever been on BB, that's the first one they manage to get onto Survivor? Ugh x infinity.

Even worse, imagine if he becomes the only person to win both BB and Survivor? UGH.

I've always wanted them to do crossover contestants with BB and Survivor and THIS is the first one they choose in 13 years??

In recent years, I've thought that CBS edits Jeff's voiceovers in i.e. Probst records them when they get back to the States. This could've been their procedure dating back to the show's debut.

I used to think that too except there have been a few times when awesome contestants (Penner, Parvati and Courtney for example) have replied back snarkily to Probst's comments during the challenge, so you know he was saying them right there. Also on Cook Islands for example, during the loved ones reward challenge, Probst announced a strategy that Penner and his wife were using and Ozzy and his mom heard him and began to copy their strategy, drawing Penner's ire at Probst.

So not only does he definitely talk during the challenges but he also talks WAY too much during them.

By the time the last reunion happened they had finished filming this season. They have been filming two seasons on one island for awhile now. I think the same thing happened to Russell, the cast of Heroes v Villains didn't know him cause his season hadn't aired before filming.

Yeah, they film the seasons back to back in the spring/summer months now. Philippines was filmed March/April 2012 and Caramoan in May/June. I think that was earlier than usual to free up Jeff for his flop of a talk show.

This Blood vs. Water cast seems so fucking ridiculous though. The latest cast list sounds like Aras, Rupert, Gervase, Tyson and COLTON are the five guys now because Rob and Nicole Cesternino couldn't go due to Nicole's pregnancy. And Stephanie Valencia and Natalie Bolton got shelved for Laura from Samoa (okay) and Monica from One World (WTF???). The other three woman are Kat (fine), RC (pointless without Abi-Maria "Dementor" Gomes) and Tina Wesson (Where's Jerri to slay her ass out first for a second time?).

My bad. I wasn't referring to the commentary in which we see Jeff say it OR someone replies to him. I was speaking of the voiceovers where Jeff is unseen and he's giving us a play-by-play of what's going on. If a challenge is shot uninterrupted and multiple contestants are involved, I don't think he can say everything he says in a usual episode if the challenge is shot in one take. Could be wrong but that's what I suspect largely because his comments are often too perfectly apt. He's not that sharp, IMHO.

That's too bad about Rob C. Would love to have seen him win. He's a fantastic Survivor strategist. He did a great job of unraveling his competitors during his season.

His commentary really isn't anything special; I can buy him doing it all in one take. Especially the tedious times where he's like "Cochran with ten pieces left! Nine! Eight! Cochran with seven pieces left!!" as if we can't fucking count or something. It doesn't take a lot of commentary ability to say somebody's in the lead or provide a score recap eighty times. Or to slam anybody with ovaries who falls slightly behind.

I would vote for Rob C to be on Survivor every fucking season if he agreed to always do his Kermit the Frog AND Jonathan Penner impressions on the show. Seriously, they're that good.

Colton getting back ?? i'd have prefer ROb too ... but well...

Seems like it's going to be a tribe of "blood relation" (Father/son/sister etc..) Vs a non blood relation (Girlfriend, boyfriend, husband)

That would make sense

I'm suspicious for varied reasons e.g. reality shows are very manipulative mainly with its editing process. And I think back to an acquaintance in an org that I belong to who was on the show: said person did an interview for our club newsletter sharing their dismay that many of the interviews (confessionals, if you prefer) were out of sequence. For example, comments they made on Day 4 aired on a Day 27 episode as if it happened at that latter time. They take a lot of liberties to build their cast of "characters".

Yeah, there was a really noticeable example of that with Cochran in this season's finale when he's talking about Eddie. The confessional starts with him on the left side of the screen leaning against something and finishes with him on the right side of the screen in a completely different area. They also took a famous Natalie White confessional in episode four of Samoa where she said she was good at forming social relationships when it was from much later in the season. I don't mind stuff like that so much because it still actually happened and they're trying to tell a story in a coherent fashion, but a lot of Jeff's challenge recapping is fluff that probably doesn't need to be added in post-production.

Does anyone here like Rupert? I don't know why he's so popular and called back. I personally can't stand him, his playstyle, or the way he talks with that ego so huge it takes up the entire camp....

On PI, yep. After that, I was indifferent. Still am. Would prefer he was gone but CBS caters to the grannies, gramps and soccer moms that love lunks like Rupert so I get the casting.

I LOATHE Rupert. For me his popularity with Survivor fans is as puzzling as Dick Donato's popularity with Big Brother fans. I wish he would just go back to Hogwarts and teach Harry and his friends how to ride a hippogryff or whatever the fuck.

I always thought Rupert as a player was overrated also. I think fans thought it was so cool when he stole someone shoes in his first episode and just kind of stuck with that. I suppose they also find him gruff but lovable. But after that, he was always just sorta there without doing anything really noteworthy as a player.

rupert is way overrated !! in PI he was the cool pirate kinda... not a player...def worthless in this game

yeah
Rupert is overrated

I dont mind Cirie, Amanda, and Parvati for the 4th times

but please no Rupert!

Far worse than Rupert returning is the rumor that REDEMPTION ISLAND is returning in Blood Vs. Water. Yep, Jeff must be actively trying to kill this show now because he's the main one who cares about RI.

Sure, it's just as poll on Survivor Sucks with ~12,000 voters, but what EP in his right mind can ignore such overwhelming hatred for RI from your hardcore fanbase? The casuals didn't really like it either. It's ludicrous.
