Somehow, I knew you'd make a post about this! But I loved it! Tasia absolutely killed tonight. She really did.

It was a great night, way overdo, but great night!

I think it was a shortset. It was kinda like a corset type of thingy. I don't know what it was but the girl worked it!

I'm tellin you, Tasia works it no matter where she is. I have to see her live before I die.

^Yeah, I kinda agree. She should tone it down a notch. But I guess that's part of her charm. You know she's going to go all out for every performance.

She tore it the fuck up! damn! She sang that song! I'm so pissed I missed this.

Patti has called Fantasia "a little Patti"...basically, her successor, specially when it comes to stage presence...Fantasia is the closest you'll probably get to Patti's legendary stage "holy ghost possession" histrionics.

She kicked ass this night! Her interaction with mah girl Patti was so cool and fun to watch. :D

I didn't like J. Hudson's rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"...just didn't sound right. She has a good voice but her delivery, at least here, was...awkward, somehow it didn't sound right.

Fantasia definately ruled the night...it's why Patti passed her the mic when she sang "A Change Is Gonna Come"...like passing her the torch.

Yolanda Adams doing "You'll Never Walk Alone"

LOVED IT!!! Yolanda did such a great job here, totally did the song justice! She had Patti crying...

Brian McKnight doing "If Only You Knew".

He did good. It wasn't an impressive rendition of the song but it was a decent take on it.

They've posted a lot more of the performances on that night, on youtube.

Jennifer Hudson - Stir It Up

For some reason, I just can't feel J Hudson. She's not bad by any means but she ain't all that great either IMO.

Wayne Brady and Big Daddy Kane - Feels Like Another one

Nice one!

Mario - If You Asked Me To

He doesn't have the vocal power to kill this song but it was subtle, smooth and beautiful rendition of the song. I liked it.

Nona Hendrix and Sarah Dash - No More Lies

Her companions from LaBelle! Great performance! Loved when Patti got up and started dancing.

My favorite performance of the evening was Tasia's 'LM'. I think she completely tore the roof of the place with it. But there were some amazing performances.

But let's talk about Brian's 'If Only You Knew'. Now, I love me some Brian McKnight. But this is the first time I was less than impressed with his vocal. I mean, it was good but it wasn't up to standards. That one extremely off-key note towards the end was ear shattering.

But other than that, I think it was a great night. It should have happened earlier! Patti is a legend.

Indeed. The two best performances of the night belong to Fantasia and Yolanda Adams...they're, IMO, equally as good but for completely different reasons. The "Lady Marmalade" performance was a funky, upbeat, happy, electrifying party performance. The "You'll Never Walk Alone" performance was a moving, powerful, emotional electrifying performance.
Tasia's performance made me want to be there and party with them. Yolanda's made me tear up a bit...'cause I was thinking about Patti and her life...she's had a tough life man and the words of the song made me empathize with that and how amazing it must be to have a friend to sing such an inspiring song so beautifully to you.
I think, judging from Patti's reaction to both performances, one can easily say they were easily the best performances of the night, for different reasons.

Brian McKnight's "If Only You Knew" was an ok performance...when his voice cracked on that note it was unfortunate but, other than that, it was ok...but definately not amazing.

I remember hearing the audio for Tasia's 'Somebody Loves You' way back in like September and it was different than the one we saw the other night. I wonder what was up with that.

Maybe they dubbed some of the vocals? It's not uncommon.

Btw, that performance was also good but it didn't impress me as much as her "Lady Marmalade" performance.

Yeah, mostly everyone I know said the same thing. I think Tasia just proved how great she is as an entertainer. I can't wait for her next album. I hope it's more 'When I See U' than 'Hood Boy'.

Indeed. There's a reason why Patti calls her a "little Patti". She's really great!
