Terra Nova

I thought it sucked. I hope this shit gets cancelled. That dad was a cocky obnoxious douche. They have population controls and they had another kid, just because?

The premise of going back in time doesnt sound so awful. But what makes it suck is the whole family nonsense with the rebellious teenage bullshit.

I thought the same thing. Selfish.

And then there was the mother saying she thought her kids DESERVED something better, something real, hence the move to Terra Nova... doesn't she realize that people like her are the reason the planet is so grossly over-populated in the first place leading to environmental degradation etc. and no-where for the children to play.

The show is a metaphor for selfish heterosexual people breeding like rabbits, and then moving to a new suburb that has just been built for breeders. The new suburb just happens to be the jungle. It's basically a family drama that just happens to be set against a vaguely sci fi background.

I liked the action sequences and some of the guys are sexy. Let's see how the second episode pans out.

Thank you! And then in spite of the fact that they broke so many laws endangered so many other people everything works out exactly how they want. The mom gets a job she wants, the dad gets the job he wants, and all their kids are safe and sound. I dont mean to sound cruel but it would have been better if they had to leave the youngest daughter behind, so they would have some consequence for their actions. I'm done with those show

i think the dad is hot. this is the only photo i could find of him on the fence. anyone else have one. with his shirt off?

I still enjoyed the episode. I hope it gets picked up for the entire season.

i agree with most of you about the kid thing, like they know they have population controls, and they know what causes children....so they go ahead and have a kid anyway, and then get upset when they get in trouble? just plain dumb.

and you are right it does have a lost feel with the whole "discover the secrets of terra nova"

There's a scene (about 41 minutes in) with the original probe mounted on a pedestal where it was explained that it's not prehistoric Earth, but an alternate.

The original probe sent through the fracture in time had a beacon that was meant to be found in the then current time/space, but never was.

The problem is this makes about as much scientific sense as saying that if I put on a blind fold the monster can't see me because I can't see it. The odds that the probe could be destroyed, damaged or buried so deep to undetectable in all that time are pretty close to 100%.

There are only two possibilities as I see it here, either the folks running this project are idiots or the entire probe story is a deliberate lie. The dialogue from the leader and the Sixers seem to suggest the latter. They are intentionally intending to destroy the old timeline and created the probe story to fool the masses into letting them do it.

What I predict is that very shortly the changes they are causing in the past will cause the timeline to shift and destroy the old one. When that happens they be cut off from their source of supply (the first timeline finding the rift was a fluke, the likelihood that the new one did will be low). The colony leader expects this but suddenly the Sixers and their supply of iron will become a lot more important. Realizing this conspiracy will be the major arc of the first season I suspect.

Liked the show it has potential but I have to say SFxs of late have become poor this is no exception. Is this down to the credit crunch or what network produces the show?

Hah, I didn't think anyone would be watching this. Glad they are! The show is awesome, I like it a lot more than Falling Skies...which I lost interest in after the first 3-4 episodes.

Okay, just getting caught up on this. I've only actually watched the first episode. I'll watch the rest over the weekend and decide whether I want to keep up with it.

Initial review: LOST in Jurassic Park

Hubby loves it and I don't hate it which is high praise. It's keeping about 8 million viewers which is way better than Lie to Me did in the same slot last year. With X Factor not being a ratings giant it was proclaimed to be, shows like this are more important to Fox than ever.

Love it but the family shit needs to go.

I am obsessed with the show but if it branched out more from this family unit I feel like it would be even more familiar to audiences.

There are so many characters they could explore.
