Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

Probably because that was one of her lowest points, commercially. Stars was the only one to chart (for a couple weeks, peaking at #153), and none of the singles from any of the three albums charted, either. So putting those albums out on CD would be a tough sell. About the only people who would be interested would be really hardcore Cherophiles (is there a specific word for Cher fans?), and I'm not sure there's enough of those to justify a standard CD release. That said, Cher's got enough of a fanbase that a fanclub release would probably be worthwhile.

Or perhaps something from Rhino Handmade. RH specializes in limited runs (5000 or so) of CD reissues for pieces that probably would interest a select group of people. RH was the label that gave a CD release to Cher's 1969 "3614 Jackson Highway" and, it being Rhino, it was given the deluxe treatment - bonus tracks, excellent remastering, great informative booklet. The three albums you list were on Warner Brothers, who is now under the WEA umbrella. So is Rhino, which means, at least, there wouldn't be any problem with licensing issues. So who knows? It could happen.

Why not contact Rhino Handmade and suggest it?

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

Do it! Suggest it! They actually have a link on their website - "Suggestion Box" - where people can suggest things for the label to reissue. Point out that these three Cher albums have never been issued on CD, that they're Warner Brothers titles, and that Cher still has an active fanbase. You might also point out that their other Cher album they put out (the 3614 Jackson Highway one) sold out of its run. That's precisely what they're hoping for. :)

Don't just "hope". Get involved! :D

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

I hear ya DarkEmoBoi... Those three albums from the '70's were quintessentila CHER.
Some of the ballads on "Stars" are just beautiful. I especially always loved "Just This One Time." Alas, unfortunately all three lps did bomb; not to mention she and Greg Allman released "Two The Hard Way" just after Cher released "Cherished." And yet another commercial failure. I would definitely love to see them on CD! And thanks by the way for posting the covers. I already made "Stars" my desktop background.
"In a rented room above a Hollywood bar with my money gone..." Aaah... Cher. :)

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

Now you've done it...I can't get "Half-Breed" out of my head now...especially that last note she holds forever...

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

How about that album that had "Take me Home" on it ?

I can remember that cover shot with Cher having some ginormous gold,
um....'somethings' on... wings and head dresses or something ?

Made quite the impression on this gay boy.

Is THAT one out on CD ?

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

Hey Joshua_me: The lp that you are referring to is indeed "Take Me Home." I remember that one very well. It was her first release on Casablanca Records after she left Warner Bros. Casablanca really promoted the album. I remember flipping through some magazine and seeing a full page advert for it: "How can you refuse when CHER says TAKE ME HOME?" Cher was complete in her gold Viking/Xena album cover outfit. The CD is out there; in fact, I think that you may be able to get it as a compilation along with the follow up to "Take Me Home" which was Cher's album "Prisoner."

I Love the Stars Album

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

For some reason Cher's song "Heart of Stone" really moved me, so, the "Heart of Stone" CD is my fave, that with her greatest hits CD, the double one.

Re: My 3 Favorite Cher Albums (Never released on cd)

I've got to say that I enjoyed alot from Cherished, too. That album was definitely centered around Cher's love affair with story songs. I liked War Paint and Soft Feathers alot. I especially liked Love the Devil Out of Ya, He Was Beautiful, and my favorite on the Cherished album is definitely Send the Man Over. I belonged to Cher's fan club way back in '77 when I was a kid, and I remember receiving Cher fan club stuff in the mail, and reading about how Warner Bros. wasn't promoting Cherished at all. I didn't understand it one bit. I recorded Cherished (and all her 1970's lps) onto a freakin' cassette tape. I would grab my tape recorder, head outside and lie in the hammock in my back yard just listening to Cher in the sun. Good times. Good times...

Re: Anyone a Cher fan?

"All I really Want To Do" and "I Got You Babe" came out when I was in high school, and I've enjoyed her ever since, particularly the TV show years.

She's not my #1 Diva (that would be Barbra), but Cher is very high on my list of favorite female singers.

Re: Anyone a Cher fan?

I love Heart Of Stone too. I like Cher best when she's doin those kind of rock songs. The Love Hurts album is my favourite from her. And yes, I'm definitely ready for her to rock out again!
