I think if that were true most of us 50 year old and plus would be dead by now or have aids or something. I think the truth of the matter is that most gay or bi men don't even know anybody that is sick with aids or has an std.

Most sti's won't put you in a position to die from it. For that matter, most people with sti's are unaware they have them until they get some sort of outbreak, and by that point they've usually already given them to someone else. Nor are people who know they have sti's treated particularly fairly in the dating market when disclosing. Nothing like people preferring to fuck with no barriers and snearing on the people who try and make sure they're not spreading anything by being honest. Ergo, most people pretend they're 'clean' without bothering to actually get checked out because Stigma Sucks.

I'm willing to bet they know quite a few men (and women, for that matter) who have sti's, whether those people know they have sti's or not.
