Actually, in the US, the cellar spider is called a daddy long legs, I just learnt that now. It is cellar spider in the US, crane fly in the UK (1000x worse then any spider), and harvestman in Australia.

Snopes says otherwise.
It's not true.
Apparantly craneflies, daddy long legs, whatever you wanna call them, not poisonous. Or at least to humans.

My house was overrun by meal moths, which I've heard are impossible to get rid of. I got in the habit of leaving spiders and their webs unmolested. The house became overrun with daddy long legs, and after about eight years I didn't see any more meal moths. I like to watch them bounce on the web as they fuck.

One morning I woke up to find a huge, furry, black and yellow tarantula hanging out on the kitchen ceiling and a silver dollar sized weal on my left shoulder. The spider was gorgeous, but it freaked me out because it felt like a bad omen as I was worried about my mother who was hospitalized at the time. I put it out in the trash. I think the neighbors black cat got it and ate it. Don't have a clue where it could have come from.
