Has anyone got this yet? If so do you use the remote like a paddle or like a sword and a paddle?

Anyways any thoughts on the game?

I thought it came out today? Does Canada get it on Wednesday?

This game looks so cool I wish I had a Wii.

I am also waiting on this..I hope it will be as good as the people who have gotten it says it is.

I miss playing Nintendo, especially Zelda. I haven't been able to afford them since the Super Nintendo.

We played the first three temples this weekend. Over all it is a great game and the motion-control works mostly good. However there are a few weak points, too. I am mainly annoyed by the fucking unprecise analog stick. I swear every d-pad is better. The graphics aren't too good either, and there are a few annoyances like that bird-flying (takes too long, needs too much control) and that VERY annoying help-thing-avatar. "Hey there, master. I have something to say. I have to say that I am 95% annoying. Also let me remind me of the obvious thing like .. your hearts are empty!". The story so far is a bit weak, but I hope it gets better. The puzzles and worlds are good, but the temples seem to be a bit too short. At least for my taste, this is my first "3D Zelda" I have only played all the 2D parts until now.

I too preordered this, the special edition preorder. I still have not received it, infact I am a little annoyed. If bestbuy tells me it is backorder, I will be pissed.

Well, I got the game yesterday and it's pretty great, so far! The motion controls are way good and work very well in the game. The graphics are good, I mean, we can't expect much more than what we are getting now. The painting style of the graphics works really well when you see things from a distance.

I do agree with Corny that the bird flying could have been way better. It's just kind of a hassle and not as fun as it could have been. v.v That's my biggest disappointment so far. I've only gone through one dungeon, you could say. But now the big worlds are all one big dungeon, too, in a way. And that actually works really well and the transitioning is very smooth because of it.

And I do hear the story does pick up until about after the first three dungeons or so....

I love Fi's percentages, though. XD It's funny, but yeah, she will try and alert you if your hearts are running low, sometimes.
Overall, it feels like a fresh game and new experience. I will have more to say as I continue to play and discover all the little interesting things around.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

That's why I went with the collector's edition. It comes bundled with a Wii Motion + and it was cheaper to go that route than to buy the game and a Wii Motion + separately.

And the the music CD is included as well.

Does that mean you don't use the remote like a paddle?

I have a bad wrist so I am trying to find out if I could even play the game. I saw one ad that had a guy swinging the remote like a sword, but I don't know if the game has to be played that way or not.

What do you mean like a paddle?

But, yeah, you are gonna be swinging the remote all over. And movements are more precise, so you have to be more precise. My arm already kinda hurts from it....>.>

A control paddle. From the looks of it though they are called game controllers now.

Thanks.

I have to make one correction - yep the story does pick up a bit, after doing the first temples and getting the first flame - it's a lot better. With the controls I am still not too happy, but some exercise made them less frustrating. I had to recalibrate the wii mote once in the last boss-fight (sand scorpion) because it was always running wild with the wind amphore, making me blow in a circle as soon as I moved right :(

I loved the whole mine/desert world. BUT ... the temple, again was pretty small.

Has anyone beat the game all the way yet? If you have what would you rate it on a scale from 1 to 10?

I have this game sitting on my TV stand waiting to be played but there is dinner and skype calls to be made first.

Well, I may have a bad copy because the game looks absolutely terrible.

Horrific jaggies, pixilation, and pixil glitches as well.

Gamecube games look better... N64 games look better. It's a godawful mess.

I think I'll be returning it.

That is too bad.

I got to play it for a few minutes today and it was a fun game.

I will agree with the Pianist too on the graphics. There are times when it looks as bad as PS1 graphics (I first noticed this in the Bazaar). After the frustration I vented about in the gay gamers unite topic in Nintendo's failure to embrace HD is glaring, I'm not surprised by his comment.

I do admit that the game does sometimes have some shortcomings graphics-wise, but overall, I still find it really nice to look at. Especially in those areas where you are meant to just stare at the scenery. The Wii graphics are pretty much Gamecube graphics, anyways. XD

When I go from playing a game like Skyrim (on PC of course) to Skyword Sword, it makes SS seem like it was made 5+ years ago graphics wise.

So I just beat the first temple and the camera in the game makes me to kick my dog at times, especially in close quarters. That is just one thing I cannot stand in this game is a clunky camera. I remember in the GC/N64 days where you could hit C^ and it would set your camera to facing the direction Link was. Oh well. Still a decent game.
