Re: The X Factor Thread

I think it sucks. 95% of the contestants are horrendous. And the ones they have chosen so far have mostly been ok. Like the girl who did Beyonce's Listen sang well but she sang it exactly like Beyonce with nothing original.

And like idol there is so much annoying extra shit to stretch it to two hours. The most infuriating thing is the grand intros for the judges every 5 minutes.

Re: The X Factor Thread

Xander Alexander! He might have potential, but his attitude sucks. Melanie is so far the best, vocally. Then, their was the guy who's pants came down. WTH!? Haha. I am more excited about the Bootcamp round, though. I've been following the X Factor UK for a few years. I love the format of that show.

Re: The X Factor Thread

I've been watching the UK version for awhile now online. Since 09 I think. I prefer it better than the US version. Cheryl Cole was amazing and should have never been replaced with Flopzinger. Oh well.... Glad to read that US critics praised Cheryl and panned Nicole. I'll continue to watch the UK version. The new panel is amazing.

Is it weird that she would talk in a Jersey accent?

She is a little reminiscent of Rebecca Ferguson from X factor UK circa 2010. And Rebecca did turn out to be my favourite contestant of all time.

I kind of silently happy that the US X factor isn't living up to the hype Simon Cowell is making it out to be. The truth is, I've always wanted someone to wipe that SMUG look off of his face. Now that he's left American Idol (and it's done better- better ratings without him), and X factor UK (which, incidentally also scored better ratings without him), let's see him take the sinking ship that is the X factor US down with him. Ha! Funniest thing would be if FOX decided to cancel it halfway through season 1.

I loved Cheryl, even when they were giving her hell last season. But I do agree she wasn't her usual smiling self in a foreign land.

I think it was a big mistake firing Cheryl. I dont know what i is about Nicole. Obviously, she is beautiful and talented but to me, she doesn't have the X-Factor. She always seems so rehearsed and pageantlike. I love that Cheryl is a real person.

I hate the host. He really really bugs. He's new to US tv and he needs to tone it down.

Does anybody really need a reboot of Simon & Paula? Tried and gave up last week. Ratings are far below what FOX expected - about 12 million last week vs well over 20 for Idol but that's in January and not competing against other new/returning shows.

It's so nice to know that J Lo posts on JUB as well. Anyways, am loving the show thus far "Am so happy to see Paula Abdul". The are some really good singers this years and I can't wait for more.

I enjoy the show so far. A lot better than current American Idol. I can't stand Randy, J. LO, and Steven Tyler. They offered no constructive criticism, and were just boring. I wish Chezza stayed though...I liked her.

I think the reason the ratings are so low is because they are going up against powerhouse shows such as Modern Family and the Office.

I saw the first episode and most of the second. I have enjoyed it so far.

Simon says he fired Cheryl because she seemed a bit too bewildered being in America. I didn't notice that but I only saw an hours worth of edited auditions with her. So far on camera Nicole seems more bewildered IMO but Simon sees way more than we do so who knows. Early speculation seemed to point a finger at her thick accent.

Interview with Piers Morgan:

Complete and utter BS. He also said it takes time to adjust in the US...... yet he gave her no chance. SO far American viewers and critics alike have been slamming Nicole as a downgrade and have praised Cheryl. I'm still very much bitter. Cheryl is amazing. given the proper chance she would have been fabulous. Nicole is just a horrible choice

I guess aijalon18 and mygaybuffet aren't going to answer! :p

My goodness! I didn't know I was so much in demand!!

As of 30 minutes ago, I just caught up with all the episodes. My initial comment was based on reviews and previews I had seen. After having watched it, I stand by that post.

The show is very hectic and has no direction. It's an emasculated version of America's Got Talent. Simon is no where near as being blunt as he was on American Idol. Half of the people they put through should not have been put through.

That being said, I'm intrigued by it. I love how they play all the major POP songs (yes I have a surround sound system!) in between.

So onto boot camp it is!

Just wondering being from the UK, was Cheryl Cole popular amongst US Audiences in her short time on the show? Because in the British tabloids its being made out like you lot absolutely loved her and would like her back and prefer her to Nicole, this correct?

As an American Cheryl Cole/Girls Aloud fan I have been keeping track of the US media reviews and yes you are correct! She has gathered nothing but praise while Nicole has been slagged as a "seat warmer" "downgrade" "robotic" "annoying" "stiff" :=D:

There was even a poll on People Magazine website asking who do American viewers prefer...... and Cheryl won.

This is the first time I have ever heard of her! Simon was right in ousting her.

Ugh Nicole bothered me in Auditions #4 I think. She gave one contestant the evil eye and attitude right as she walked on stage and refused to give her a chance when CLEARLY she was amazing. Anyhoo.... Another note, the rehash of Simon and Paula is already stale. Cheryl could have filled that role and kept it fresh. I'll be watching the uk version instead, it's much better anyway. The US version is edited badly and poor Steve Jones does not get air time at all, where as in the UK version Dermot O'Leary (the host) plays a crucial role with the auditionees before and after.

Gary Barlow, Tulisa Constostavlos, Louis Walsh and Kelly Rowland >>>>>> X Factor USA

Watch Nicole Collins -- Could this be the new Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston?
