It depends where you go, when I worked out a lot I wore tight shirts and loose tank tops, but I'm gay, so there's that. Just be yourself, if you want to wear tight shirts, where tight shirts.

It is not unusual to wear tight shirts and it does not label you as gay to do that. So show off your hot body and I hope you have a great trip!

I agree that you should do what you want. I bet you look great in a tight T:)

I would say that in the US, like any country, it's not a look that "preppy" guys go for. It's considered more metrosexual or working class or, yes, by some people, gay. I live in a neighborhood of New York City that's half trendy young people (including a significant gay population), half working class people whose families have been settled here all their lives. I see many muscle shirts around the neighborhood and I frequently joke that I can never be sure if it's a gay guy or a good old-fashioned (frequently homophobic) guido. It's probably not one of the upwardly mobile straight guys who works on Wall Street. In rural areas, I have also observed my share of (presumedly straight) country boys wearing tank tops to show off their muscles.

So to sum up my rambling, you won't stand out too starkly in a fitted tee in most places. If you're hanging out on Martha's Vineyard with a lot of New England boarding school grads, though, you might have a problem if you care about fitting in.

A tight shirt on a fit body is perfectly fine...|

There are plenty of guys (and girls) that wear tight shirts. There are people who will think you're gay, but those type of ignorant people exist everywhere. Most people won't even bat an eye. Just wear what you want and are comfortable with.

I don't think the OP is looking for a prep rally surrounding self esteem and being comfortable with oneself. I think he's asking about customs and perceptions in the US where it relates to clothing.

As one of the responses mentioned, I think it depends on what area you're in. When I first joined the gym I couldn't wait to show off my results by wearing fitted Ralph Lauren collared shirts and other attention-whorish garb. But I was always careful about the places I'd wear these shirts. For me, if I'm traveling, I wouldn't give two fucks who labels me as gay for showing off my upper body. But if you do care, I'd suggest wearing shirts that aren't "too" extreme unless you're on your way to a club. The key is looking sexy without the pretense of trying. ..|
