To Catch A Predator

What I find rather fascinating about these Dateline: To catch A Predator television shows :corn: is that you never see any of these men show up with an obvious boner in their pants.

Anyone else notice that? :)

Unless they edit them out, you'd think a few of these men would show up with a hardon or a visible chub on.

Now, I'm not saying that every man who shows up at the door thinking he's five minutes away from pedophile sex is going to be boned up. I suppose there is some stress involved when showing up at the home of other people while they're at work in an attempt to have sex with their child, but still...

...you'd think a few of these guys would have a rod in their pants. Or how come none grope themselves while loitering around in that damn kitchen courtesy of the Kitchen Store?

Do they edit that out? Or are these men perhaps not there at 11 p.m. to have sex with a 13 year old boy? Maybe they are there only to meet "skaterkid11" and actually look at his collection of hockey trading cards.

Also, when you watch these men, anyone notice how they react when Chris Hanson comes out of the closet (or pantry or whatever that space is he's in)? I imagine some are shocked. But don't most seem a bit excited? Like maybe its some other john leaving or joining in?

Its a very strange show.

Its a combo of "Scared Straight" and "Jerry Springer".

It should though go to show you HOW MANY MEN will actually show up at your kid's door when they're playing around on the Internet.

In what was it? One or two nights, 54 men showed up? I mean, COME ON. There is something terribly wrong out there. We're not even talking that one old perv in the park anymore. We're talking enough "traffic" as to warrant a parking lot outside of some kid's bedroom window.

If I had a child (and not just my beloved little doggies (*8*) ), I wouldn't let them NEAR an online computer without my being home and in front of me.

What is with dads buying their pubescent children their own computers, hooking them to the 'net, putting it in the kid's bedroom, shutting the door and then leaving them at it until its time for bed?

I say it all starts with the very same sorts of dads who IRONICALLY are then the men showing up at the Dateline house.

Very well said it's exactly like a car accident, you know you shouldn't look, you know it's horrible, but for the life of you you can't look away.

What struck me about that site, rational, is that it is a mirror of American society. People WANT to harrass and destroy the lives of sex offenders, not just the pedophiles. They don't care if the person is guilty or not, as long as there's an accusation; they don't care if the younger person is the one doing the manipulating and seducing, or even has false ID that can pass police inspection.

That said...
I've gotten more than a few hits from minors looking for sex. My response is usually along the lines of, "When's your birthday?... So, you'll be 18 in x years and y days, right?... Kool -- if you still want me, e-mail me then. See ya!"
Usually I get pissed responses. Just once a kid actually wanted to confirm my e-mail! At that point I told him that if he did e-mail me, he'd better have ID, and the testimony of a parent, that he really did turn 18... and he said, "Kool, I can do that."
Four years and some to go... it will be interesting to see if he actually e-mails me.

That's to illustrate that there's more than one way to do the right thing and bail.

What I was surprised about is the lack of shock when Hanson walks out. I don't think I ever saw a dewd bolt.

Did anyone see the newest one. I believe this is the 1st time they had a male actor to play the underage boy and did he overact, I couldn't stop laughing when he asked the gay if he still wanted to be his 1st. But no wonder it's so addicting it's scary, informative, shocking and very sleazy all rolled into one.

I do not remember them using a male before, either. There was a episode before that had a girl playing a boy, but that was awhile ago.

Maybe since I am not a pedophile, I felt trapped when I received that message. It made a lightbulb shine brightly over my head. Dateline is making a point and trying to tell parents to protect their kids. Yes, the men show up at the house...and guess what...surprise!

I am also shocked that they do not shriek and run for cover at the sight of Chris Hanson, the host. What do they thing that it is the father? A threesome? What???

I'm addicted too. But why in the world would an older, ugly guy with a beer gut believe that a 13 year old girl would willingly want to have sex with him? That's what I don't get about the whole pedo scene. I mean, most of those guys are positively hideous.

that makes me wonder if any of these guys offer them money...but dateline wouldn't edit that out because it would make them look bad would they???

I don't think that anyone here disagrees that pedophiles should receive their just desserts -- what I do take exception to is someone profiting from it, as well as televising it for entertainment purposes.

In two thousand years, you'd have thought humanity would have matured to the point where we no longer need to feed Christians to the lions in a public spectacle. I suppose not. :(

Dateline NBC is a newsmagazine, it is not an entertainment show. It is basically a news broadcast, it is meant to inform. I don't think she show is really meant to deter people from comiting these crimes, it is to serve as a warning to parents and kids that there are sick perverts out there doing these kinds of things.

I think this show is great!!..| I think any pervert praying on children should be burned alive!! I hope they catch eveyone they can..|
Maybe. But what about the parents who don't realize that their own child hangs out in a sex chat room talking with someone with a handle like "bigtenincher". Something's not quite right here with the parenting skills.

Here's an idea. NBC should do another show called "To Catch a Stupid Parent". Here's how it would work: a decoy would find a young child to chat with sexually, then Chris Hanson would pop into the living room at that house where the parents are watching television and say "What the hell are you fools doing? Do you know what your child is doing online?" Then the police would barge in and take the child away to foster care and arrest the parents.

by the way, you can watch the entire to catch a predator episode here...

i gotta say, they're getting bolder...i'd never seen them actually have these decoy girls actually stay in the guys' presence this long...they're probably asking for trouble. what if one of these guys grabs the girl before chris hanson comes out?

and that last dude is kinda cute...he's not gonna be happy in prison.

The whole thing makes me uncomfortable..I won't watch it.

What I wonder is: where are the parents of the children who do meet adults online? Where the fuck are they?

We now have more "information" than ever, but people's minds are emptier than ever. The scary thing is that these people have children.

I've never even heard of the program and from the description of it here, I wonder who would want to watch it?

Have we fallen so far as a society that we resort to things like this for entertainment?

I agree with Kev in questioning the parents and their lack of involvement in their children's lives.

the one who sat down and calmly talked to hanson and confessed everything...with the semi-punk do...even chris hanson was like "you're a good looking man...you could get dates..." he was cute. a pig, but obviously a charming one.

it was the one called interview-turned-therapy...

^yeah he was all right.

The 19 year old male decoy was hot too -- what we could see of him.

I only saw clips of the Petaluma backyard with the girl with the lemonade...Is there the male come-on there too? Did I miss it??#-o

Yes there was but only like 1 man showed up for an underage boy so we rarely saw him, and as was said yes he was quite hot.

I've watched it the last 2 weeks, I find it scary. I can't believe how many guys do this, and how 13 year old girls know that much about sex.....

It definitely makes for interesting TV, but it's still hard for me to watch. I don't enjoy seeing people be humiliated, no matter who they are.

those girls aren't 13...they're like 21 yr old decoys that look real young...
