You are in a restaurant or bar and realize you have to pee. As you approach the bathrooms, you see a man entering one toilet as a woman exits the other. Thru the doors you see that both bathrooms are entirely self-contained, individual bathrooms. However, one is clearly labeled for women and the other for men. What do you do?

If it's a bar, I'm drunk, so I use the the open bathroom no matter what the door says. If it's a restaurant I'd probably be polite and wait for the guys to open up.

If it's not too busy and there are no women waiting... and I really have to go, I'll use the women's.

Wait for the guys if I am out at a restaurant. If it's gay bar, either I come to first!

I never thought this was an issue. If there are 2 self-contained rooms, as a girl, I have no problem going right into the one that says "men" and I won't wait. In fact, I can't understand why there are little boy and girls signs on the door. All I see are 2 unisex restrooms.

The one thing I noticed is that children and teens very often don't have the maturity to see them as 2 unisex rooms. They've been taught this idea that boys DONT go in girls rooms, and vice versa, and haven't grasped the idea that if they are two private rooms, then the rules change.

One time I was at a gas station, coming out of a men's room in exactly the situation you just described, and going in next was a young boy - maybe age 7 or so? And the look of surprise on his face to see me coming out of the men's room was something else. He looked like a deer in headlights.

If you use the ladies' room, make sure you sit to pee. That's the only real difference between a men's room and a ladies' room... ladies don't pee on the floor or the seat the way men do.

The ladies' always smells nicer, too. I use it whenever I get an excuse.

We have a lady at work who completely freaked when she heard that a man had used the ladies toilet even though there was no one else in the building at the time. She got so stressed out she had to take a day off sick. That's what you can be up against, so I'd wait, or go outside somewhere.

Gosh, we're posting the tough questions here on JUB tonight, aren't we? :D

that's insane. Did that woman have some other mental problem?

Been there, done that. It was an emergency and sheeesh, the girls were banging the door for as long as I was there! I had to run out and hide myself !oops! ](*,)

Wow I had no idea people have such violent reactions to using the other restroom. Just like 3 weeks ago I was on the ferry heading back to Seattle, and immediately as all passengers boarded I ran to the bathroom because I had to go. I'm sure I used the ladies room because there were no urinals, the little boxes for feminine hygiene stuff was there, and I checked the sign on the way out.

When I got out of the stall, I saw a man standing at a stall of course going pee. I laughed and said "one of us must've wandered into the wrong restroom" (as I was washing my hands) and he said in an embarrassed tone "oh god was it me?" I replied "I dunno, and anyways, I'd be in favor of ally mcbeal style restrooms" (even though I did know but I didn't want him to feel embarrassed).

He finished and that was it. He hurried out of there pretty quickly.

It was no big deal.

Why are people so hung up about what restroom you use? I don't even care.

Well I did ask her if she had separate Ladies and Gents toilets at home as I couldn't believe her reaction. Well surfice to say that after calling me every name under the sun, she didn't talk to me for a fortnight.

Another place I worked the gents was a set of 6 stalls, no urinals, the ladies was a single toilet and the plumbing used to get blocked. When this happened the Women used to come down 2 at a time to use the gents. They would get one of us to make sure all the stalls were empty then one of them would stand guard outside the door while the other used the facilities. When finished they would come and give us the all clear, crazy or what?

Z as usual has the right idea here...i mean it sounds like such a progressive concept sharing bathrooms, but what is really the big deal...its not like you have to use the toilet in front of everyone.

but i wouldn't want the ladies/mens room to turn into the stank fest that a lot of mens rooms become -not that i know or anything:^o

however they will have to convert the other restroom for ladies to sneak off to together to talk about boys & such:rolleyes:

when you wana go go to which one first the nearest one if your busting
