Who else is a fan?

After finishing the five modern series of Doctor Who, I was left in kind of a lull so I started Torchwood. Took a while for me to get into it, but once I did, I just absolutely loved it.

I have now finished the most recent series - Children of Earth (yes, I know it's from 2009) and OMG, what a ride! It was phenomenal.

Edge of my seat waiting for the next series!!

I quite enjoy it, and got the b/f hooked on it as well...

Though seriously, you apparently need to be bisexual to work for Torchwood...

I think the next series starts up either this spring or summer, and I know I'm for sure looking forward to it.

I love Torchwood. I watched that before I watched the New series of Doctor Who. After watching a few episodes I got addicted so then after I finished Torchwood I started watching Doctor Who and got addicted to that as well. I can't wait for the 4th season of Torchwood. I've even met Eve Myles & Gareth David-Lloyd

Torchwood RAWKED!!! I look forward to seeing it on BBC America.

One of my favorites was the Jonah Bevin episode - where Gwen followed the case of the missing teenager - against Jack's telling her to drop the issue. The ending to that had me in tears.

Also one of my favorite lol moments was when Gwen and Rhys were riding shotgun in the back of that potato truck. :rotflmao:

I love Torchwood...its all because of john Barrowman! Ho is amazing. Always has been. I met him when he was a child, in Illinois, and he left an impression on me, which I finally recalled after seeing him on Dr. Who as Captain Jack, and I was not at all amazed that he had grown up to become a fine and talented and beautiful gay man.

Love this show, Dr. who also. They are going to have a hard time regrouping after the devastating end of Children of Earth. I hope they do not lose the quirkiness of the first two seasons. Its difficult to keep fans when you kill beloved characters.

That said I never thought I would be able to watch another Doctor because David Tennant owned that character so well but I did end up liking the last season. though I think that was more due to the Dr.s companions.

I'm still in awe of Capt Jack meeting the real Capt. Jack during WW2, and the resulting passion.

Writer Davies is assuring us that the UK/US Torchwood will be familiar, but I'm a little nervous that he'll have to make compromises to suit the U.S. network and resulting larger audience.

The US modifications are prolly gonna kill it for me. You know the first thing they are gonna do is cut down on the gayness and make Captain Jack have female love interests only. Everyone knows US television is so squeamish about male gayness. Look what they did to Skins.

Of course no one involved will ever admit to making Jack straighter for US audiences. Instead they can hide behind the excuse that Ianto's death made him closer to women after all he isn't gay, he's omnisexual.

Oh, I am so glad there are so many fans here - and finally - I can voice all my concerns which have all been canvassed already. One of the best things for me about the show was Jack and Ianto's relationship - such fun - and such a good dynamic. I don't know what the fourth season will bring but I do hope they keep with the spirit of the series.

I would love - love love love - to see Martha Jones join the fourth season. They had initially written her and Mickey Smith into "Children of Earth" but owing to scheduling clashes with the actors, they removed them and created the Lois Habiba character instead.

Fingers crossed, I guess.

That's cool. Where did you read this? Was there anything else revealed about the upcoming season?

The entire series, including the "Children of Earth", are available for streaming on Netflix.

i only watched the first seven or so episodes of season one. i absolutely loved barrowman on doctor who, but i thought his character had lost most of his charm on torchwood - why did they have to make him gloomy and immortal? and none of the eps really convinced me, some were actally pretty terrible, like the one with the cyborg girlfriend. does the series improve, should i give it another try? or is this just not for me?

It gets loads better after that. He starts a fling with the cybergirl's boyfriend. Eventually they have a full-on love affair.

I agree with aijalon. It took until almost the end of the first season for me to get into it. The last few episodes of season 1 - including one titled "Captain Jack Harkeness" was excellent. Like every TV series, it has its moments. Most of the second season was good, and "Children of Earth" was absolutely phenomenal. The final episode of "Children" was beyond all expectation.

I see what you say, Hylas about Barrowman's character being more fun on "Doctor Who" but that was really just snapshots of his character. In this series, you get more details about his background, and you come to understand why he is the way he is.

I'd recommend giving it another try and if you can't make it past either seasons 1 or 2, definitely watch "Children of Earth".

I've only seen the first series.

It was ok, but compared to Buffy and/or the first few seasons of the new Doctor Who series, it was fairly inferior.

I've been delaying Children of Earth so the wait until the next season isn't so long, but I couldn't resist starting and just finished Day 2.

Wow! It's like a global "24" on steroids! It's almost a different show. I absolutely love it.

Anyway, I just noticed there are a lot of Torchwood books, perhaps just ebooks, I'm not sure.

If anyone here has read any of them, a few questions... Are they considered canon? I've tried to figure if there is an order to them, is there? Finally, are there any that deal with Jack and Ianto's relationship?
