Trump and first lady Melania test positive for coronavirus

Re: Political Implications of the Coronavirus [SPLIT]

Looks over at Ms. Karma and taps watch with a 'you're late' gesture.

Actually the timing couldn't be worse from Trump's reelection campaign viewpoint. CNN is going on this morning like the whole of Federal government is incapacitated because so much of the White House staff is now quarantined.

Re: Political Implications of the Coronavirus [SPLIT]

Mark Meadows is on the list of people who were potentially exposed. He has been going with Barrett to meet with the Republican Senators. Many of the Republican Senators refuse to wear masks and have reportedly refused to allow their staff to wear masks.

We can only hope that this spreads like wildfire through the Capitol and delays the confirmation hearings until after the election. Not that I wish ill will on any of them, nor McConnell. ;)

While I do not wish them arm, I praise and thank Sweet Lady Justice!!!

Nah. We need to have a functioning government, especially at a time when we're about to [hopefully] have a change in leadership.

For all the reckless hubris of the Trump Administration- including the fact that anyone who gets infected did so because they weren't wearing mask- they're putting us all in danger.

The only person who benefits from all of this shit show is Vladmir Putin. It gives him another reason to point at the US and say, "See. I told you that democracy was a hot mess."

Yeah because we should really actually care what a Dictator like Putin thinks.

Edit: And the fact of the matter is our Democracy IS a hot mess. Considering everything going on and Trump being able to get elected in the first place.

Ah yes, the voice of reason. But it's tough to go high when many of them are so low. :)

^^That is true for his entire presidency^^Gotta wonder how much $$$ he owes him^^

I hope have the opportunity to hear him wheezing on his own mucous. He deserves everything that he gets and more. He’s a first class scum bag.

Because 2020 can always get worse... this was one of the last official tasks that Trump did before going into isolation. This was signed on Wed. An example of why a functioning government is needed- if this weren't passed and signed, thousands of government workers would have been furloughed this week... in the middle of a pandemic.

Senate passes stopgap funding measure to avoid government shutdown [CNBC]
The stopgap bill passed by an 84-10 vote in the Republican-controlled Senate and was later signed by President Donald Trump.

The Senate passed a resolution with broad bipartisan support Wednesday to fund the government through Dec. 11, averting the possibility of a shutdown before the new fiscal year begins at midnight.

That was mentioned in an article posted about Trump's taxes but I can't find the link at the moment. I don't even remember which thread it was in. I recall over $400 million in loans which are due in the near future and a great percentage of those loans are Russian.

I want Trump to recover so he can be held to account after the election.

I hope Melania recovers, divorces his ass, and we never hear from her again...go back to Slovenia, maybe. Or just a quiet little town in Alaska. Just no more public eye.

I guess this saves her from the Melania tapes fallout...she's not much better a human being than her husband, they kind of deserve each other, though.

Of course , the douche Trump always is, he exposed a number of people even after he heard of Hope Hick's diagnosis earlier as Covid positive.

Might have even exposed Biden at the debacle Tuesday night, though at that time he didn't know Hicks was ill yet.

A reminder - just because Hope Hicks tested positive does not mean she gave it to everyone else. She might have gotten it from any one of them since none of them wear masks and until you get the test and positive result alot of people do not know they have it or spread it.

By not wearing masks or practicing social distancing - they created their own mess

Watching The View this morning, ABC's Jonathan Carl reported from a WH meeting this morning that Mark Meadows (not wearing a mask) spoke to reporters about Trump and Hicks' conditions. He said Hicks is "quite sick" and that Trump is "showing symptoms."

The WH has more leaks than the Titanic.

I'm pretty certain the ship only had one leak, but it only takes one when it stretches 245 ft. That's a doozy!

2 comments. . .if the Veep also comes down with the virus, do we have a Constitutional crisis on our hands? And, who would appear on the ballots in November for the Republicans?

The Vice President is not a candidate for the presidential election. If the president were to die or stroke out, there probably IS a legal way for the voters to write in a candidate, and with a concerted effort, Pence would likely get more votes than Trump would have, but would it be enough? No one knows. If both were taken to their doom, then another candidate yet could be written in. It would be possible that states would allow interpretation of prior early votes cast as simply going to the party, not to the individual.

A question for astrologers: what is the window of time that the motion of those planets could be considered to be in effect? The reading was for the event to happen within two weeks of mid-August. It's now about seven weeks after, and backing up an incubation period, perhaps six weeks. What makes that time period flexible or broad?

Yup---if he had told Americans to all wear masks back in April we'd have less than half the deaths in this country---so say every expert----he's a psycho who is not capable of making smart decisions unless they involve personal or political gain. He laughed at masks and social distancing during the key time we needed leadership. He's a piece of shit and always has been.

I mean, to be fair, it is not really hard to predict the President as dumb and arrogant as he is was going to get COVID at some point.

ps. Also any Democrat or Liberal sending "thoughts and prayers" to Trump is a chud.

This might very well slow down the confirmation hearings enough to prevent Barret getting a vote until Mark Kelly can take over McCain's old senate seat on November 4th. From what I have heard, if Kelly wins the election, he does not have to wait until January to take office. His term can start immediately after he wins the election because he is replacing McCain. The appointment of McSally was only temporary until they held an election. She would have to step down immediately after she loses, and she is very unpopular, so that would make it very difficult to get Barrett confirmed. The Democrats need to stall as much as possible to draw it out until after the election.
