As for my comment about write-ins: Sen. Murkowski (R-Alaska) won her 2010 election by write-in votes. I remember, at the time, that it was the first time since *1954* that anybody had won an election for a position as high as a seat in the USA Congress. It is indeed rare for a high seat to be won this way and, of course, Pence would be going for a higher seat, as the acting head of one of the three branches of U. S. government [THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH].
