On-Topic Trump Bans Syrian Refugees

Was she asked why she was coming in, and what was her response? If she said she was immigrating, it would make sense to require an immigrant visa.

Good grief. Stop making innocent people the guilty people. She was travelling to the US for a visit as she's done many times before. She had her Canadian passport and her proof of citizenship. The asshole agents simply assumed that she was a Muslim from the Middle East (she's of East Indian descent) and was told by those asshole agents that she needed an immigrant visa before she could cross the border. That was after being pulled aside and detained for hours.

Your asshole agents are taking far-too-many liberties and think they are King Shit on Turd Island. Both American and Canadian law requires that those with proper passports and IDs MUST be allowed to cross the border.

By the way, your asshole agents are under investigation.

If it were that simple, every one of the countries would have just said ' OK. We'll work more closely to ensure safety' and get themselves off the list.

The fact is, the inclusion of Iraq was an embarrassment to the US because not only did it destroy the country, it then created the conditions there for the creation of ISIL.

Iraq gave the US an ultimatum of sorts....if you want our co-operation and assistance in fighting ISIL...then get us off the list.

If all of the countries were identical in all respects, then your 'logic' would hold.

So once again, Trump's muslim ban has been struck down. Judge Derrick Watson opined:

The Government appropriately cautions that, in determining purpose, courts should not look into the ‘veiled psyche’ and ‘secret motives’ of government decision-makers and may not undertake a ‘judicial psychoanalysis of a drafter’s heart of hearts’.

The Government need not fear. The remarkable facts at issue here require no such impermissible inquiry.

For instance, there is nothing ‘veiled’ about this press release: ‘Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.’

Nor is there anything ‘secret’ about the Executive’s motive specific to the issuance of the Executive Order:

Rudolph Giuliani explained on television how the Executive Order came to be. He said: “When [Mr. Trump] first announced it, he said, ‘Muslim ban.’ He called me up. He said, ‘Put a commission together. Show me the right way to do it legally.’”

So Trump, Giuliani and Steven 'Baby Goebbels' Miller, doomed the order by running their mouths incessantly. While Miller and his boss might have thought that the presidency ruled absolutely.....surprise.

What's that old express? "Loose lips sink ships"?

Yeah. That's it.

Whar he needs to do is stop all immigration, so there can be no issue of discrimination. It would give us chance to reduce poverty and begin to make progress against all our problems.

^ And destroying everything that America has been bragging about for centuries.

What's that old express? "Loose lips sink ships"?

Yeah. That's it.

And still yesterday...he was howling at his Nashville audience about radical ISLAMIC terrorists.

No wonder the order is stayed.

Now let's see him walk it into the Supreme Court.

^ And just this morning on the radio news, he was shouting about keeping America safe. Meanwhile, he's working his supporters into frenzy.

I have *NEVER* considered suicide (and probably never will)...but I would eagerly embrace the idea rather than being forced to live in the kind of vile, absolutely monolithically white Christian straight rich shithole you want this country to be. Jesus Christ...I'd far rather live in places like Peru, South Africa, or Albania. A country with ALL cultural diversity of all kinds wiped from the face of [STRIKE]the earth[/STRIKE] its lands would entirely suck.

On topic of the Syrian refugees et. al., I don't think that Agent Orange Dolt45 helped his case much on Wednesday, when he said that "I think we ought to go back to the first one, and go all the way." Of course he means the first Executive Order BANNING MUSLIMS from what he "decided" were the "worst" countries. So, in other words, he wants to go back to that first Executive Order, which also gave some brownie-points to people from those lands who happened to be Christian, i.e. forcing a religious test on them. With Executive Order #1 he was fine with some "collateral damage" (keeping doctors, etc. out) as long as it kept all o'them nasty MOOZLIMS outta MY COUNTRY, coming from those BAD places...

Saying he wants to go back to #1 just proves his animus, and I think (HOPE) the higher courts recognize this.

Oh hey, if he takes this to the Supreme Court, he's actually managed to figure out how he can be appealing (a court case) and UNAPPEALING (in all other respects)...at the SAME TIME!!!

I wonder if people see the irony in saying things like "I'd rather commit suicide than to live with white people" and then proceed to call other people racists.

So does anyone with some depth of knowledge about the US legal system want to outline what is likely to happen next. What are the legal options going forward, or how will the matter progress from where it is now to, potentially, the SCOTUS.

The next step is for the case to be argued in federal court and an actual decision rendered.

In the meantime, Trump is not helping his case by running his mouth.

An appeal of the stay to the circuit courts
An appeal of the stay to the SCOTUS
The actual trial in the Federal Courts
Appeal of the trial in the Circuit Courts
Appeal of the trail in the SCOTUS.

If the circuit courts uphold the stay, the whole process will likely take years to play out.

oops. yes. I forgot the appeal of the stay.
