Twitter hero(es) help track down hate crime suspects...

If anyone still cares about this case, 3 "suspects" have been arrested and charged, including daughter of a police chief. Each is charged with 2 counts of agg ass, 2 counts of reg ass, and 2 counts of endangerment. What does this mean? Nothing. These charges are just a slap on the wrist.

According to witnesses, there were more people holding those 2 gay guys down while some punched and kicked them. The bastards that held the victims down so they could be pummeled are not being charged with anything. White suburban middle class privilege in full swing here.

Well, the charges themselves are BS. At worse, they'll be put on probation and some community service.

I guess we'll have to wait for further development on this. I can't say I'm not disappointed that only 3 got charged. We know from witnesses accounts that a bunch of them held down the victims while some hit and kicked them. Now, they want us to believe that only 3 of them did anything.

What I'm really interested in is to see how they will present the self-defense defense. By all witness testimonies, the 2 gay men were much smaller than those who beat them. In other words, they want us to believe that 2 small guys picked a fight with a mob of 15 people.
 
Is "uppity homo" a term? If so, I can assume they'll use it in their defense.

Though I will say that it's better to underprosecute (did I just make up a word?) than to overdo it, and have the bastards get off the hook completely.

I think the charges as they stand are sufficient. The main problem I have is that I think more of the individuals involved should be facing charges. Not to mention the hate crime loophole...:dead:

Sadly, I'm not surprised at where things are right now. When you "know the right people", you'll be surprised what people can get away with. :##:

This is going to be one of those cases when it's up the the victims/prosecution to escalate everything and push for more "justice", because as things are...these assholes are about to get away with a slap on their fucking wrists. Disgusting.

The prosecutor only sent out a warrant for the 3 of them. The rest for now are deemed not involved.

I honestly don't know how the prosecutor thinks the others aren't involved considering witnesses all said the 2 gay guys were held down by the group members while they were pummeled.

I can't wait to see their self-defense defense in court. They had to break the eye sockets and jaw of 2 very threatening gay men who were much smaller than them. The 2 gay men were so threatening to the group of 15 people that they had to hold them down and beat to break eye sockets and jaws.

I'm emotional about this case because the gay couple might very well be my honey and I.

That's a weakness in our justice system: criminals can walk if a prosecutor decides not to prosecute when it's obvious he ought to.

I personally hate those petitions. Nothing but mob justice.

The DA promised the reason for only charging the 3 and no one else will become clear later. While I'm disappointed that they didn't charge anyone else, I think we should wait and see their reason before performing some mob action.

Yep. Happens ALL the time. Though I think "making it up" is a stretch.

There seems to be an air condescension in your post (that I do not appreciate) implying that one shouldn't speculate and/or have opinions about a case in the early stages.

Even though many of us here call bullshit at the way the case is being handled, several of us have stated that we'll watch things play out and see what develops. So, I don't understand your snarkiness at this point. You almost come across unnecessarily bothered by our commentary...as if the perps are family members of yours.

Forgive us for being outraged and disgusted by this case.

Also, I am sure I have seen you walk the line of "trial by internet" in other cases presented to this forum before. Why target this one so relentlessly?
