I cannot believe the email I got!

This is not your typical newsletter from Outsidepride.com, Inc. In fact, this is the first one in six years which is not business related. I apologize for cluttering your inbox with an unsolicited email; however you are free to unsubscribe just by clicking the link at the bottom.

I want to share with you my television viewing experience the other night on prime time television. I ask those of you who agree with me to go to www.cbs.com and go to the bottom of the page, click the feedback link and express your opinion. I know the vast majority of you will agree with me as all polls indicate. We are the majority, not the minority as the liberal media would lead you to believe.
My wife and I sat down to watch television the other night with our children. Cold Case was on which is normally a fairly enjoyable show to watch; however, the last half hour of the show dealt with a young man who wished he had asked his male friend to come with him (long story short). The show ended with the two men hugging and obvious intimation they had discovered their gay feelings towards each other. The very next show was Without A Trace. The whole last half hour of this show was about two lesbians who were struggling with their feelings of lesbianism. It ended with full acceptance from one father and the two lesbians making out. Yes, they were kissing right at the end of the show on public prime time television. So much for wholesome family television.
Now, I am NOT trying to bash homosexuals and I am not a bigot; however, I feel homosexuality is morally wrong and should not be "promoted" as what is the norm for society. Text books are being rewritten as I am writing this to "highlight" every homosexual who has made a contribution to society. There are teachers who have been asked to make sure students know that, "This person in history was a homosexual." History is being rewritten to promote homosexuality and prime time television is doing its best to make homosexuality a "normal" behavior. If homosexuality was the norm, civilization would have ceased to exist thousands of years ago. Procreation takes a man and a woman. There was Adam and then there was Eve, not Adam and Steve.
There are literally tens of thousand of you reading this email right now. If you are tired of the way public television is going let CBS know! It will only take about 1 minute of your time. Again, just go to www.cbs.com and click the feedback link at the bottom. It is time the majority speak up and not let the minority run this country. The majority can bring back the Christian heritage this country was founded on because it is, "In God We Trust."
Thank you for your time,

That was the email I got rom this company.:grrr: I ordered many a product from them and this is the shit they send me out of the blue! This is the email I sent.

Yes this is in response to the unsolicited email that was sent from this company. As a customer I am appalled that you as an owner would send such a hateful email to your customers like that. And yes as a gay man in America it is disheartening that whether you believe in or not you would choose to blindly send an email not knowing whether your customers are or know or have someone in their own families that is GLBT. There is something called a channel changer. If you do not like what is on the station then change the channel please. You talk about a minority controlling what you see on TV, sir I can tell you that it is not the GLBT community that controls what you see. You need to look at your own narrow minded bigoted group for that. And kind sir homosexuality has been around for thousands of years and will continue whether you like it or not. And as you can also see society has not ended just because we exist. That particular red herring is just that a red herring!
For future reference I will be telling all those friends and families that I once told how great your products were, not to order from you. I am disappointed that you chose you use your business as a vehicle to spread your bigotry. We have always been around and will continuing to be around whether you like it or not, but as for your customers, I am sure you will loose plenty of them over this.
Have a nice life.

They are also featured in news papers, I plan I forwarding it to said newspapers so they can have a looks see also.

Wow just wow.

I can't believe that guy had the guts to send that garbage out to all his customers. I hope it bancrupts the place!

I may have forgotten to mention this little gem was sent as their newsletter. For the life of me I cannot believe that anyone would risk their business that for all intensive purposes, is doing quite well. I can only hope other customers feel as I do and voice their opinion to them and tell others to do the same with their wallets.:grrr:

Thanks for the notice! I, too, will be sending them an e-mail indicating my intent to never buy anything from them and to tell all my friends and family about their bigotted views. It is incredulous a company would send out a mass e-mail like this.

If these people would only read the bible with an open mind, they'd realize how much of a rebel Jesus was and how pissed off he would be (and, I'm sure, is) at today's church.

Some of you are probably too young to remember Anita Bryant.
She was a former beauty queen turned singer and spokesperson for Florida orange juice.
She also launched a hate based anti-Gay campaign.
Gay bars and individuals refused to buy Fla OJ and she was dismissed and never seen on TV or the movies again.
(possibly no one would do her hair, smirk).
This was back in the 70's when we were less organized and even less accepted. If boycott was effective then, it can only be more effective today.
A similiar thing happened with Coors beer, not too long after.
They may hate lavender but their love of green trumps that.
Thanks for sharing and I for one support the cause.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, lunarus. I've sticked the thread and replied to the site in question.

That email is just a load of crap. Reading it made me furious. If Mr. Hake doesn't like what's on t.v. he should change the channel. He's a homophobic ignoramus. I'll bet a lot of people actually followed the instructions on the email and complained to CBS.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe someone else here got that email. I got that email last night because I have purchased from them before, being that they offer organic seeds and I try to buy organic whenever possible. It really suprises me that he thinks that the majority of his customers are so conservative. The organics industry is not generally conservative. It's roots are actually liberal.

I was reading it last night around 12am and threw together a quick response which I emailed to them last night, because I knew that I would not be able to sleep if I just let it go.

Dear Troy,

I don’t have a lot of time to really discuss this thoroughly but I will make a few quick points. I find the opinions in your email to be ignorant and backwards.

“Now, I am NOT trying to bash homosexuals and I am not a bigot; however, I feel homosexuality is morally wrong and should not be "promoted" as what is the norm for society.”

It is easy to say that you are not trying to bash homosexuals but that is exactly what you are doing. And I’m sure that you are teaching your family to do the same thing. Homosexuality is part of society. You can choose ignore this fact as much as you want, but it is part of society. Just because homosexuals are not the majority does mean that it is not part of society. It is easy for people to go after a minority group of people. People that are left handed are not the majority but that does not mean they are not part of society.

“Text books are being rewritten as I am writing this to "highlight" every homosexual who has made a contribution to society.”

This is obviously an exaggeration. You obviously read a lot of propaganda and have believed it. It is this type of propaganda that harms society. It is this type of propaganda that causes gay people to suffer, many even attempt/commit suicide, it also makes some people feel that it is ok to commit violence to people that are gay. From your statements, it sounds like you are the type of person to kick your child out of your home if they would ever tell you that they are gay.

“There are teachers who have been asked to make sure students know that, 'This person in history was a homosexual.' History is being rewritten to promote homosexuality and prime time television is doing its best to make homosexuality a "normal" behavior.”

Homosexuality is normal behavior. You can find it in humans and in animals. I see no harm in people knowing if someone was gay in history. You cannot teach people to be gay. That is not the point. But it is important for people to be educated. It is important for gay people to know that they are not alone. I would highly recommend that you spend more time getting a broader education instead of being spoon fed propaganda.

You have been told that being homosexual is morally wrong and you have obviously assumed that this statement is true, and that the information that you have received has been translated correctly. That is your right to do so but you really should not force this opinion on everyone else, because of the suffering that it causes other people.

“If homosexuality was the norm, civilization would have ceased to exist thousands of years ago. Procreation takes a man and a woman. There was Adam and then there was Eve, not Adam and Steve.”

That is just not true. Something being a norm does not mean that is all there is. No one has suggested that homosexuals should replace straight people. That is just silly.

If you plan on encouraging people to do something, you should really educate yourself better on the issue. Look at studies from organizations that study mental health (http://www.psych.org/) and not just listen to the propaganda.

A Customer

I have fired off an email to the Bigot and did a copy and paste and sent his email that was sent to you to all of my family and friends and asked them to send on thier disapproval as well as the garauntee that they will not shop from them. 7 of the people I emailed have used this company themselves in thier business (landscaping) and have ordered in bulk. I know all of these people quite well and am pretty sure that 90% of those I wrote will admonish Mr. Bigot.

I also sent a positive email on to CBS thanking them for allowing for diversity in their shows.

I was reading it last night around 12am and threw together a quick response which I emailed to them last night, because I knew that I would not be able to sleep if I just let it go.

you go, buddy.

What I thought was so funny was him complaining that "Without a Trace" isn't a "wholesome family show".

So, I already received a reply from the Bigots to my email. I am attaching it so that you can read how false their words and actions really are:

I just wanted to take a moment to inform you that I shall no longer order any products from your company. I have also sent a copy of your email to all of my friends and family, many of whom have used your products in thier landscaping business, and have received replies from all of them stating that they will be sure to never order form you again. They have all also assured me that they will again forward those emails to me their friends and family and urge them to stay away from your company. If you disagree with a program, it is simple enough to turn off the TV or to change the channel. I do find it odd that you do not find it reprehensible in the Cold Case show that there was someone preying upon young men, killing them, and that one who felt so alone in this world was found in time, and was also able to realize that he was not alone in this world.

Dear Customer,

Thank you so much for your opinion on our newsletter. We respect your passionate opinion on what will make our country a better place and did not intend to personally attack anyone. All people are created equal and deserve to be treated kindly and fairly.

We had a huge response from the email both positive and negative. Many of you pointed out that there are many immoral issues being displayed on TV and we would have to agree (war, violence, promiscuity, and so on). Many of you also stated you have a remote use it, this could be done and was however we also chose to take a stand and have taken stands before for other programming we felt was wrong for public TV.

Another issue that has been brought up is that God wants us all to love one another. We have many gay friends who are wonderful people and contribute a lot to this world.

Again, thanks to everyone who took the time to share their views and observations with us.
