Waiting for BooBoo to come for elevens's so I can finish vacuuming the couch and living room rug.
 
We still have a covering of snow here....although it is wicked damp and cold.

The downstairs is complete except for setting the table tomorrow morning.

And I also have to finish up the room for SisCo.

hahaha...I have to say after all the neglect since the summer and through one illness after another...the farmhouse seems to be about 3 times as large when it comes to cleaning it.

At least, some snow to cover ground. It's always nicer when Christmas is white.

Gotcha. I can only sympathize. My elder sister has lived in a house with her hubby and child. It was always a big deal to clean up the rooms and keep them tidy. They decided to move back to a flat. At least, there's one floor to clean now. :)
 
I've been cleaning the house since 6am this morning.

I'm so done. I do it for people who burp and scratch their private parts after dinner.

I feel your aches and pains....I would say that we are apparently a lot more anal retentive than the good time gang you will be treating with what I imagine to be a remarkable and memorable dinner....but our whole raison d'etre this year is to create one more memorable, drop dead Christmas feast for the family....no evergreen tree this year because of Covid exhaustion...but over 3000 lights throughout the main floor, dozens of Poinsettas and a twig tree loaded with all our toy decorations....I am so fucking ready to drop tonight.

But it is 99% done.
 
Just finished the continental ZOOM Christmas eve chat with all the family.

We realized that it just wouldn't work on Christams Day this year, so set it up for this afternoon before everyone went off for skating parties and church and god knows what.

This was the future we were primed to expect. People from across North America (no one in Europe or Asia this year) connecting and hearing one anothers' voices.

My grandparents and parents would likely be astounded.
 
Just got back from walking around the neighborhood. The weather is dry and about 50 F. Often we have snow for Christmas, but not always. We had snow about a week ago, but it is all melted. In bad weather I walk at the mall or the city rec. center, but they are both closed today and the weather is good outside. I have to get ready to go to 11:00 AM church now.
 
Just going to wrap the last present and have a shower before the family arrives.
 
For me it's Christmas evening already. Earlier today I had lunch with my parents (like any other weekend) and we had a walk with my sister.
I'm happy to be alone in my cold appartment right now. I couldn't stand being in a crowded house with full-on heating and children running around :cautious:

I've been piddling in the kitchen all day.

Attached the food mill to the counter and ground oranges, cranberries and walnuts for a relish. The mill made a drippy mess. Put the mix in a gelatin base and poured into a royal mold.

Candied a couple of cups of walnuts to stuff into coffee-marinaded dates I had dredged. They were very good and a pleasant crunch, even if the candy did upstage the subtle coffee flavor I worked hard to infuse.

Made a broccoli & rice casserole for lunch. Haven't made one in years and years.

Baked a lemon meringue pie. I'm almost patiently waiting for it to chill so I can sample it for supper.

Resting and reading online for a bit before I get up and put more ornaments on the tree. Lazy day.

That sounds really difficult to do.

Could you show the cake so we can imagine it? One imagines a Bundt cake, but you'd have to have really powerful lungs to suck through a hole that big.

Just home from doing some after Christmas shopping with my kid. I really do spoil my kids too much 😂
 
Thankful that we have this week off....I am so tired still today from Christmas and then going out for some visiting yesterday.

We do have to go out to town to do some banking paperwork today and to drop off a couple of presents...and of course it is glum and rainy so I plan on comimng home and having a nap after.
