Apologies if there is another thread like this, I quickly scanned the first three pages and couldn't see one.

Just thought it would be nice to have a thread to share recommendations for good reads and talk about books.

I'm reading

The Stand by Steven King

and

Northern Lights (Golden Compass) by Philip Pullman for about the 9th time. (I'm studying it with my 8th grade English.)

At the moment, I am reading my psychology book but durning spring break i will read Harry Potter and the deathly hallows

At the moment I'm reading the internet stuff, blogs, forums, daily news...
Also I'm trying to get through Swan's way, the first volume of Proust's masterpiece In Search of Lost Time.

I just finished "Less Than Zero" by Brett Easton Ellis yesterday.

I have to go to my library request list online and see what i'm gonna read next.

I might run out on Tuesday and buy Russel Brand's "My Booky Wook"...I could use a fun read

I have taken a break from reading lately as I read quite a few books over the last few months and didn't really want to go out and buy new books. But the next one I am going to pick up is Hold Tight by Harlan Coben.
I've read The Woods and Tell No One. And they were awfully similar so I'm giving him another chance with this one and hope that it is unique enough compared to those two. I loved The Woods - I read it first.

I'm reading "Phantom Prey" by John Sandford (the entire Prey series is fantastic) and am about to begin reading "My Booky Wook" by Russell Brand.

At the moment, I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood.

So far, is pretty damn good, and interesting to say the least. I highly suggest it.

BTW, is also considered highly controversial due to language, sexuality, and an apparent(although I disagree) anti-Christian tone, so might be hard to find at a public library if that's where you go.

Sorta off-topic, but can anyone suggest any other books by Atwood?? Wanna see if I enjoy some of her other works.

so in addition to "My Booky Wook" by Russell Brand....I just picked up from the library "Clown Girl" by Monica Drake

I'm gonna cancel a thread I just started on this topic. I just finished reading, "Def Con ONe," by John Simpson. Here's a blurb on the book:
Air Force Airman Bryce Callahan reports to the missile silo base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to take up duties with the Base Security Police Squadron. There he meets Sergeant Todd Claymore, his training partner... who becomes his romantic partner, as well. Their lives settle into a routine as peaceful and pleasant as is possible while they're on Active Duty.

That peace is broken when a squad of rogue Soviet commandos cross the U.S. border headed straight for Callahan's base, intent on destroying the ICBM missiles. Led by a Soviet general who controls an unsanctioned missile base in the Ural Mountains, the guerrilla action could easily explode into World War III. Caught up in the danger, Callahan and Claymore must face the enemy with courage to stop the attack and an all-out nuclear war.

Simpson's a good author and his books are on amazon.com The male leads are always gay, and their is always romance between the characters.
