A great one for us older guys...and for anybody else.

Phil Spector's "Wall Of Sound" music sounded SO very gay, though there's no indication that he was "family." I didn't provide a link, but if you search out IKE AND TINA TURNER "RIVER DEEP, MOUNTAIN HIGH" you'll find that the song is one of the gayest-sounding of anything ever recorded, and truly a gem.

THe best part of breaking up is Folgers in your cup?

Uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, uh.

...they don't write 'em like that anymore.

Lex

My favorite break-up song is also my favorite song of all time!

Buttefly-Mariah Carey...so frickin heartbreaking.

But Leona Lewis has quite a few brilliant break-up songs as well..

Broken

Homeless

Alive

I remember crying to this song

It was you and me against the world,
And you promised me forever more

A couple of tracks pop into my head...really only two since I don't do the whole break up thing very often...

You Make Me Sick - Pink
Karma Killer - Robbie Williams

I can honestly say that while I've enjoyed the sound of this song, I never paid attention to the lyrics until very recently, after I broke up with my bf. I have never come across a song that describes my emotions towards a situation so perfectly as this one. Just replace the girl with boy (since, you know, I'm a boy ;)) and it's my freaking life story). People tend to assume that the person that ends the relationship experiences less pain than the person being broken up with and I will admit that I was one of those people. After having been through the situation now, though, I can say that this is the farthest thing from the truth. Breaking up with my bf was one of the hardest things I've ever done, not because I didn't know it was the right thing to do, but because I knew that it would be so difficult to understand that my breaking up with him really did have very little to do with him or anything he did. It was mostly about me needing to figure myself out and needing to do that on my own.

"I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But Ive got to get a move on with my life
It's time to be a big [strike]girl[/strike] boy now
And big [strike]girls[/strike] boys don't cry"

This song, and those lines in particular, tell that story perfectly. Thanks Fergie!

I had to.

im not a particularly big fan of beyoncé - in fact i used to outright loath her - but i love 'irreplaceable'. its hilariously poisonous, and catchy as hell.

shes the queen of heartbroken disco. 'be mine' and 'dancing on my own' are even better, but technically no break-up songs.

pj harvey & thom york. 'nuff said.

im sure im gonna come up with more. im a total drama-queen masochist when it comes to music. the more it breaks my heart, the better.
