People tend to assume that the person that ends the relationship experiences less pain than the person being broken up with and I will admit that I was one of those people. After having been through the situation now, though, I can say that this is the farthest thing from the truth. Breaking up with my bf was one of the hardest things I've ever done, not because I didn't know it was the right thing to do, but because I knew that it would be so difficult to understand that my breaking up with him really did have very little to do with him or anything he did.
