Mine was going to be Simon, which I like too, but my mother was afraid of nicknames.:grrr:

My name was also going to be Simon... sorry, but I'm SO glad my grandmother said "People will call him Simple Simon".... I HATE that name.

Her three names for me and my triplet brothers.. Simon, Ian and Fergus were all poopood by my grandmother.

Thank god.

But I think she instead chose relatively common names and then chose to misspell them intentionally.

Jasun, Kile and Troi.

go figure.

I was supposed to be called Frank. As in "Sinatra". lol.

My name was always supposed to be Brian. But if I were born a girl my mother told me my name was going to be Danielle.

I was going to be called Ian, or Louise if a girl.
I prefer Ian to what I have. sigh.

jeremiah and hepsiba......my grand ma liked the good book. i'm glad we ended up with what we got.

Mine was going to Manuel. But my grandparents and aunt and uncle threatened to call me manual labor. So my aunt and grandma named me instead. THANK G-D

junior

then when he walked 5 days before i was born, mom named me after her high school sweetheart, divorced dear old dad in a reno quicky, and so michael it was, except when she was pissed then it was MICHAEL D......

and she was pissed a lot. sure miss that tough old girl...don't miss marvin elmer though. apologies to any marvins or elmers out there.

If I was a girl. I was going to be "Heather"...

And they toyed with the idea of "Leaf" for me before I was born.

Hippies, eh?...

My father wanted me to be named the Ukrainian version of the Russian "Igor"...Ihor.

I thankfully have nothing to do with that name or the man who wanted to call me that.

At least I don't have to complain that I wasn't given some better name.

my mum wanted a girl as she already had my brother. I was to be Rachel or Anna

As a boy, I have the name they chose. However--a big however--if I had been a girl my name was to be "Dawna June." My mother asked my father why that name after I was born, and he said he was at the A&P and saw the name on a can of peas and just liked it. Great God Almighty! What a trailer-park name I might have ended up with! In all fairness I must admit we were at that time first-grade trailer-park.

i was supposed to be known by my initials, as was the paternal great-grandfather i was named after. but my nickname kind of pre-empted that, and, somehow, when i outgrew the nick-name, i became known by my middle name.

Mike. I would have much preferred Mike. Oh, well.

I was going to be Oneal, but mom vetoed that, then it was to be Emile, and again mom prevailed. How the hell they came to steven is beyone me. By the way, the two names first mentioned were my fathers.
