My brother taught me.

A friend of our great uncle taught my brother during a vacation. Years later my brother taught me. Why he remembered I don't know, but I am glad he did since I like neckties.

A very cute salesman in a clothing store taught me the proper double Windsor when I was 20.

Before that, I thinkI learned a basic tying technique by watching someone, maybe my dad, tie their tie when I was 12.

I want to learn different knots.

My lawyer. I had one tie that someone tied for me once and I would slip over my head and tighten it whenever I needed to wear it, which wasn't often. After a couple of years It started looking pretty shabby. Right before my hearing for breaking into my neighbor's house, he fixed it for me and showed me how to do it.

I have since forgotten.

My memory includes both Mother and Grandmother showing me.

It's been a long time since I tried to tie a bowtie, and I was never good at it, although I prefer them.

I'm not even good at tying fancy bows on packages, but I can get by.

I like expensive ties, and used to buy them second-hand.

I forgot who taught me but in any case I’ve long forgotten how. Last wedding it was my nephew who helped me out.

Dad when I was in elementary school. I'm not sure at what age. I don't really remember, but I think I may have worn clip-on bow ties to school daily before then. I wish Mom had been more sensible and got me clip-on knit ties instead.

I have a slip over the and snug up tie somewhere. I wore it to a few job interviews and a few funerals. Those days are gone and I've outlived almost everyone.

I've never been a fan of having a noose around my neck.

I think my father taught me one method--or tried to. I'm not sure I fully learned all the finer points. I think I picked up some method out of a book or magazine article years later.

Right now, I'm not sure I could actually remember what to do. It's been years since I last wore a tie. The last time I can recall for certain was 2005 or 2006.

A high school teacher commented he was terrible at tie tying. So he'd just loosen the tie enough to remove it each day. Then, when he wore it again, he'd put it on and tighten in. He said he a couple of clip-on ties, but he said he had a policy not to indetify them, for fear that students would try to pull them off.

Look it up on YouTube. There’s a lot of instructional videos with some very intricate knots.

The still image of this video--not the video itself--looks like the modern version of the hanky code.

The meanings are, clockwise; Into frot, loose hole, rosebud!, trans, time to douche, super tight hole.

Wait, why are you breaking into the neighbor's house?
I was 17. What else was I supposed to do?

One reason I like avoid wearing a tie: I don't want to give people who know me in private life something already wrapped around my neck that can be used to strangle me!
