the word "like" as used by lots of people........"it's, like, raining outside".
Just grates my nerves. Although my all time favorite fingernails on a blackboard word would have to be "let me axe you something".
I've also noticed in tv news interviews....especially sports players being asked questions.......the white guys answer the reporter with lots of "and, uh" between sentences and the black guys insert the phrase "you know what I'm talking about" in every other sentence. I think they are nervous at being on camera, but sadly it makes them appear to have a third grade education.

I always understood that to be a military pronunciation...at least that's the way I remembered it!

But as for words I can't stand to hear, well I'd have to say I've really grown to hate, "I'm not from the United States!"
