Not only is YouTube apparently screening every video that gets uploaded with the tag "gay" on it (see earlier thread that I can't find at the moment), not only are they clamping down on naughty videos with no nudity (like the guy who jerked off inside a wet t-shirt), but now they're also clamping down on copyrighted clips as fast as they can.

Somebody posted Clinton on Fox News -- gone (still on Google video fortunately). Try finding Tom Cruise on Oprah -- not there.

Don't you hate it when a populist, anything-goes, anarchistic website suddenly discovers they can make a lot more money as long as they ban the uploading of copyrighted stuff? :grrr:

I uploaded a video of three Fratmen dancing to "Sexyback".

They all had their shirts on, there was no foul language, and aside from a bit of pelvic thrusting with no contact, there was nothing obscene in it at all.

That clip made it to the #9 most viewed video clip on Youtube that day, and then got deleted. when I complained about it, they sent me the same form letter which told me nothing at all about why my clip had been deleted. Seems it's been staffed by some very conservative people, and they object to anything gay at all.

I suppose with JAY LENO now, YouTube doesn't need the wankers any more.

When are the Homosexual leaders and their organizations going to mount a compaign against this clown for the "humorous homosexual comments" he continues to make on his program? Where are the NBC executives who need to tell him to cut the crap out - enough is enough with this blithering idiot. A comedian, he aint.:grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

Yeah, oops, sorry, I was wrong about the Clinton video. But the New York Times said it had been pulled -- last time I believe them.

And I couldn't find any Tom/Oprah videos myself except about a million copies of the 15 second parody (which is hilarious BTW). So thanks ds.

But I think my general point is still valid. They're running scared about being sued for copyright violation and probably, though this hasn't been made public, about being pursued by the government somehow for obscenity. Not to mention that they're trying to sell themselves for like a billion bucks, so they probably figure now's a good time to clean up their act.

Here's a good article about the problems they're facing:

Incidentally, youtube is the only site I've encountered that's figured out how to stymie Adblock. Well, you can't blame them for that, but still...

Screening the word 'gay' is understandable, cause how often is it used in the name of video files that aren't porn?

Umm, about 53,000 times, at last count. None of them porn. The incident I was referring to was when they recently held up all new videos with the "gay" tag for a week.

And come on, do you really expect them to just ignore a vid of a guy jacking off, even if you can't see his cock?

That one was already on there for months. And there are tons of similar ones. Are they going to delete them all? If so, that's a big change in policy. Which is kinda what I was talking about.

All this "obscene" content dodging makes me sick! Nobody told that uptight Republican Vice President to click on the video titled, "Hot Young Boys Oil Wrestling."

People who don't want to see the content shouldn't click on it! Geeesh.

The rest of us should have the RIGHT to see it if we so choose.

Hey, I won't hear anything said against Dan Quayle! Oh wait...

A lot. I have been trying to flag comments that use the word "gay" in a negative sense as spam, but Youtube hasn't taken action against any derogatory comments yet.
