On the Prowl
I just rewatched The Boys in the Band. It's rare for me to like a movie even more after a rewatch, but such was the case today. Boys in the Band was a landmark play on Broadway in 1969 written by Mart Crowley. The movie adaptation was very successful as well and was directed by William Friedkin. (The Exorcist & Cruising & The French Connection). It is available on Prime. The movie is definitely worth your time. The story is about 9 men, 8 gay, at birthday party. All of the characters are very well drawn/written and interesting. Sad, often hilarious and most definitely thought provoking.
Out of curiosity, I decided to check out the remake made in 2020, fifty years after the original release of The Boys in the Band. It was very good and even had some full frontal nudity for those of you who enjoy that. lol. Jim Parsons plays the lead and others in the cast from the 2020 remake include Tuc Watkins, Charlie Carver, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells and Matt Bomer. It's on Netflix.
So, I'm curious, for those of you who have seen either one, what did you think?
